In India there are a few cases of a strain of tuberculosis that no antobiotics can cure.

One of the patients has gone missing and there may be more cases that have not been treated.
Perhaps this might be the culprit? Either way, how do they know for sure it only affects kids below 7 years of age?

This Cambodian stuff is killing in a hurry, whatever it is.
During the great Influenza Pandemic 100 years ago, fever was treated with large doses of aspirin. Some Docs think this may have induced a "cytokine storm" inflammatory reaction in the lungs. Perhaps some kind of treatment is also contributing to these deaths. Ryes' Syndrome can start out with encephalitis like syndrome and quickly progress to mult-organ failure.

i can only imagine what some of the more evil global corporations do in poor areas of the world when they think no one is watching or there are no consequences for the harm they cause

Two things that come to mind.

If someone isn't getting enough food, then they are more susceptible to disease. Young people have less fat reserves and are still growing, so they suffer from starvation faster. Most people who die from lack of food don't actually die of starvation, and illness or disease takes them out first.

Or it's a new vaccine being tested there. Our companies go to third world countries to test their new drugs and vaccines. Since we tend to sue here when dozens of children drop dead.

remember they had an "outbreak" of some mystery illness that overcame people quite suddenly and upon autopsy it indicated that their lungs had turned pure black and looked like "charcoal" within the matter of days it took to kill them?

couple years back

one country had the majority of outbreak cases hence it seemed they were testing some bio weapon on that populace at the time

guess they're waiting to disperse it, that one test of a large area was good enough it seems

Or the Apocolypse documentary in which the experts agreed that a pandemic will occur and is over due. They just don't know when. Of all doomsday theorie, this one is the mostly likely to occur before any other theory and wipe a good size of the population off the map.

Edit to note that my focus has changed to stockpiling medical supplies, bleach, sanitizer, and anything else to deter a possible outbreak. The worst doomsday nightmare is watching your children suffer a slow and painful death.

All the victims are aged 7 and under

All died within 24 hours of getting to the hospital

It doesn't appear to be contagious as there are no reports of hospital staff or neighboring patients getting the disease.

Dengue fever and Chikungunya (CHIKV) - a mosquito-borne alphavirus - are "unlikely" according to the WHO's Dr Nima Asgari.

The following taken from the link posted below:

"according to a report on the World Health Organization website "causes high fever, followed by respiratory and/or
neurologic symptoms with rapid deterioration of respiratory functions." Devastating lung malfunction appears to kill the
young sufferers disturbingly quickly, often within 24 hours."

Encouragingly, WHO officials have reported the unexplained
disease isn't "clustering" around specific locales-indicating that the problem is an environmental one, instead of a possible new pandemic.

It IS killing fast. An article mentioned that all children were hospitalized and treated at private clinics before being sent to Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals.

Many world leaders, including U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, are scheduled to gather in Cambodia later this month for a regional security conference.

International health specialists have long warned that new pandemics could emerge in places with limited health infrastructure such as Cambodia and then gain traction before medical experts realize what is happening.

Dr. Asgari at WHO said the illness is proving to be a complex case.

Health officials say they have made an important discovery in the mystery surrounding the deaths of 64 children in Cambodia.

The Institut Pasteur in Cambodia tested samples taken from 24 patients and found 15 had tested positive for Enterovirus
Type 71 -- a common cause of hand, foot and mouth disease that can also cause severe neurologic complications, mainly in children.

Though the detection of EV71 in Cambodia is significant, there may be other factors, said Dr. Beat Richner of Kantha Bopha hospitals.

In their last hours of their life, the children suffered a "total destruction of the alveola(e) in the lungs," Richner said.

"We have now to see what really is causing the deadly pulmonary complication and see if a toxic factor is playing a role too," he said.

Testing measles vaccine there now

This is NOT EV71.

This is NOT Foot-and-Mouth Disease virus.

“Hanoi has asked the World Health Organization for help to cure a virulent disease affecting children. Symptoms include blistering on hands, feet and mouths accompanied by high fever and eventual organ failure.

Nineteen children died from the illness in 2011 alone.
The virus spreads through direct contact with an infected person’s oral discharges or saliva, the fluid from burst blisters or the stool of infected persons.

The Red Cross mission in Vietnam reports the disease has already infected over 28,000 children this year, which is more than 10 times the number of infected children in the same period last year.

According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), last year a record 110,000 children became infected, with 169 deaths.

The hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) disease mostly affects children under three years old (80 per cent of totals cases) the Red Cross said. There is no known treatment for HFMD.”

The virus is EV71, a picornavirus similar to the polioviruses and hepatitis A virus – so hardly a “mystery virus”. There are also a number of vaccines in the pipeline for the disease, including one highlighted here a while ago.

The children dying in Cambodia do not have blistering on hands, feet and mouths per any report that I have seen.

This may be a intervening variable here, this EV71.

I am noting that the CDC, WHO, and other organizations are NOT releasing the genetic sequences of any discovered viral agents in these children.

This dire situation is one we have to keep an eye on and in our prayers.

They don't want panic to ensue, but we need to be told the truth.

What is sad and strange, is that this disease appears to only affect young children.?

The two sides racing to find the cause of the deaths and a possible cure for the illness that has plagued the Kingdom are at odds over almost everything to do with the case.

The unknown disease, however, presents the symptoms of deadly respiratory destruction and neurological affliction, as both Kantha Bopha and the MoH and WHO have reported.

Kantha Bopha officials yesterday said they remained suspicious of the information published by MoH and WHO.
