Lemme humbly remind you the participation of USA in the WWII didn't happen very soon so forget the Hollywood brainwashing system. Russians had to struggle against German/Austrian nazis before. Japan had won a war both against Russia long before that war and also won against China .... USA remained silent about what Japanese did to China attacking by surprise, one of the first doing biological warfare against civilian population in modern times, killing and torturing thousands. It was only AFTER the attack to Pearl Harbor that USA got disturbed and threw the couple of bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Now, it seems China doesn't want to be caught with the trousers down again.

The reason is simple... MONEY.

See the last Superhero movie to feature a chinese dude as a villain was the Dark Knight (the chinese money launderer dude that Bats kidnaps from a skyscraper).

Well the chinks (no offense) didn't like that so TDK wasn't actually allowed to play in China.

So Marvel, not wising to miss out on the significant revenue generated by China... well, they're pandering to the Reds (again, no offense) wishes eh?

You are right there's Chinese $$$ involved with Marvel & Disney but the fact is fhey have hired a Chinese actor to befriend Tony Stark in a movie filmed in China. There wouldn't be any trouble really to use Chinese friends to struggle against a Chinese enemy (we saw that in The Mummy 3), the choice of an actor who happens to be bald and is identified with a jewish, an Indian and Persian (Iranian) is done on purpose for the audience to target another foe in the same way Spartans fought against Persians in the midst of political issues against Iran. For the same reasons actors were sent during American wars to entretain soldiers in foreign countries and as a propaganda to fight, this is specially true during the times of John Wayne and Green Barets, Kirk Douglas, Yul Brynner, Burt Lancaster, Charlton Heston, Robert Mitchum and so on...... whether WWII, Vietnam , etc.

In the case of Ben Kingsley he was both MOSES and a space traveller as the RED Hood in the Thunderbirds. It's not a mere "coincidence" Val Kilmer was an astronaut in The RED Planet and the voice of Moses in the animated film Prince of Egypt besides being a fat Moses in the musical theatrical version and Heston was Moses and chrononaut who thought was going to ORION (now in Rise of the Planet of the Apes the astronauts get lost going to MARS) in the original Planet of the Apes. Check: [link to fotolog.terra.com] [link to fotolog.terra.com] [link to fotolog.terra.com] It' s another topic the link between 3 stars in Orion, the same topography of the three biggest volcanoes in Milky Way on Mars and the 3 pyramids of Egypt, with the face of the sphinx painted RED and probably there were also red lines in the white pyramids thousands of years ago in Cairo, Egypt. Cairo coming from Arabian name Al Kahira meaning Mars the Conqueror.

Yemens sued NASA saying Mars is part of Arabian heritage given thousands of years ago. [link to edition.cnn.com] So, then again, it's no happy coincidence the whole film Rise of the Planet of the Apes was about the baby chimp set in a box like baby Moses in a basket and then raised with foreigners and then leading the revolt on behalf of their kind using a green smoke just like the green fog after the Passover during Moses' times and crossing the bridge (actually there's a part of Jerusalem called Golden Bridge) as a metaphor of the crossing of the RED sea. The apes led by Caesar (and Charlton Heston also appeared in two films about Caesar and Roddy Mc Dowell who was the chimp Cornelius and Caesar was also the Roman Caesar in CLEOPATRA along with actor REX Harrison who was Caesar, REX meaning king in Latin and Caesar meaning "hairy" in Latin). Where do the apes go in Rise but RED woods?

When someone says to another to shut up maybe because something upsets him because is true or because is a lie; if something is idiotic they have to use arguments and logic to name WHAT is idiotic and mainly WHY.

We see bits of Guy Pearce in a suit (hinting that he's perhaps a baddie with a corporate bent) and a mysterious action shot of Iron Patriot, along with a video conferencing tête-à-tête between Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan and Stark -- solidifying their quippy relationship (as well as Favreau's transition from behind the camera). The major action sequence follows a voiceover that ominously states, "Heroes -- there is no such thing." In it, we see multiple helicopters approach Stark's oceanfront Malibu mansion, opening fire and sending an armored-up Stark and Pepper Potts flying backwards in an explosion. Stark's suits are destroyed one by one, as he's catapulted into the ocean.

The money shot involves the reveal of the film's villain -- confirmed officially to be Ben Kinsley as The Mandarin. Though some prior moments hinted at his existence (a few glimpses of a samurai sword are interspersed throughout the footage), the end sequence makes it clear who the main antagonist of this movie is. Kingsley's introduction involves a shot from behind as he removes the hood of his cape, revealing a mostly-bald head with a samurai-style circular patch of dark hair in the middle, a long train of hair protruding from it. Slowly revealed from the front, the camera trains along his hand (rings on every finger), pulling out to show The Mandarin, face-on, seated and sporting a full, long, bushy, dark beard. Reading into his stature alone, Kingsley looks to embody the villain with appropriate menace and confidence.

Kevin Feige and Downey Jr. interact on stage during the IM3 panel
When the lights came up, Jon Favreau (acting full time as Happy Hogan in "Iron Man 3"), Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/War Machine) and director Shane Black entered to a roaring welcome from the crowd -- some of whom camped out overnight to guarantee entrance to the event.

Black gave a status update on the film, saying, "We're having fun -- we're halfway done." Finally able to speak openly about Kingsley, he said, "Sir Ben's lovely and he's gonna be absolutely terrific. He came up to me and he says, 'You know, the most lovely thing happened in my hotel room the other night with my voice. I'm not going to tell you about it now, but I'm going to show you later.' It's one of those things that's evolving, watching this guy perform. This guy is The Mandarin."

I don't know why you capitalized the INDIAN Gandhi like it's a surprise. He is Indian, after all.

His birthname is Krishna Pandit Bhanji. Ben Kingsley is just his actor name.

Explain why if you are smart. O.P. is right, they set a British-Indian to replace a British-Chinese character just because Muslims are the enemies and not China. As a matter of fact all other Chinese foes were eliminated even when they were in negotiations. It's all political issue and that's why the vice-presidente is bought by the "real" Caucasian Mamdarin. It's a way to say Osama was not the real enemy but a decoy used by white elite inside USA. I guess Irish uneducated people are too fucking involved in their máfia and Catholic struggle against Protestants, tbhey just can't see beyond their fucking beer, fights at the bar or family troubles.

Hey, Irish imbecil, many posters at IMDB have written idiotic things like 'Ben Kinsgley is Asian' trying to justify he as Indian British is proper to play Mandarin who is a Chinese-British as if all Asians were the same. Learn something that goes beyond the accent and features but goes social and psychological:
