Question for Homosexuals

People assume that everyone is straight. This includes families of homosexuals. Even most homosexuals don't want to be gay. Coming out usually starts with the individual accepting the feelings they have. Then they have to let their families and friends know; otherwise when John bring Bill home for the holidays, the family would be quite surprised.

As far as coming out to people beyond friends and family, I'm not sure why there is a need for that.

Because people turn gay once they have been tricked by satan and the gay agenda.

They come out of the closet because they crave attention and to "be different" but they don't know how to get it. That is my personal opinion, I am not gay so I have no idea...

Thats what I mean, I can understand coming out to close friends and family but to have to annouce to the world " Im gay and Im proud" doesnt seem like the person is happy, but more like theyre battling all the thoughts in their head

Just worried about my cousin jr who hides it. Heteronormativity is the process in which every person and action is assumed to be a cisgendered straight person. Coming out is a life long process of disrupting near universal heteronormativity and creating a space for oneself to live and grow as an individual with individual needs. Coming out is not done all at once. Some people are out to friends but not family or to only part of their family and not others.

In the United States coming out has been a largely political act. Before the turn of the millennium there was a great deal of pressure from within the community to come out or else you were not really a member of the community. You had to have pride for the good of all, even if you were not ready to be out. This has largely changed in the last decade and coming out has become more about establishing ones internal identity.

I identify as a gender queer demi-sexual activist. The above opinions are my own but attempt to faithfully reflect the generally accepted definitions and believes of mainstream queer theorist.
