Smart Meters by DUKE ohio has begun

Update from OHIO consumer...
I called DUKE and The contractor and they agreed to delay my install due to my health concerns.
In the mean time I'm beginning to submerge myself in the night mare of violation...
here is a news article that speaks to a possible reason that the Ohio energy companies do not want to give us a choice!

Are there any ACLU Ohio members here? To my surprise there is NO position by this organization on
the Privacy invasive technology being installed in all of OHIO and Authorized by a less than
impartial PUCO board... If you are a member please help and send them a note asking:
How is it that you DO NOT HAVE A POSSITION ON this?
How is it that ENERGY Corp . and PUCO allow this massive intrusion of privacy with

Well, intimidation may have begun!. Today my power by DUKE went off for 25 minutes. Since I can not confirm that indeed this
was an act, I will begin a log to track event and publish it publicly once per week. I ALREAD HAVE A recording saying
in so many words that THEY CAN shut off my electricity but they want to talk about it...Well I say That sound like "intimidation to me"...
In the mean time I find that I own the box around the meter so I will lock it!... We'll see if the break an entry?

7/17/12....Today I received a call from a Customer Rep from PUCO called Mariner Taft. He acknowledge that they have received my complaint and assigned a number to it(xxxxxxxxx). He confirmed that DUKE can install the UNIT on my house regardless of my health concern. When, I asked about my health concerns he could not answer what it means. I made it clear that that I have filed a letter with DUKE and Now I HOLD DUKE Inc and PUCO entity responsible, as my health may deteriorate based on "If and when" a device is installed in my house whole without my approval. Further, I commented why is it that the Organization does not want to further investigate this manner? I made it clear that is not right and customers should have a choice, especially if health is affected.
He only can "Note my concerns", I which time I thank for the call and left it at that....
I also, followed up after the discussion and left a personal message on his answering service, with the question that, how is it that DUKE can threaten me that they will shut off my electric service, if I do not comply? Do they have the right to shut off electric service to my house? even if I'm fully paid? I asked for answers, or a minimum to be added to my complaint on file.

To summarize, high starting current motors often draw very high currents only for a fraction of a second. Due to inertia, older mechanical disk electric meters cannot respond quick enough to register large motor starting current. But smart meters have no problem registering the brief, high power consumption from electric motors as these meters have no moving parts. HIGHER BILL FOR EVERYONE!!!

Besides the health issues, the "smart meter" is associated with sudden large increases in utilities bills... Probably one reason why mine has been so high, lately.

To update you in my quest!!! DUKE did not returned since
I sent them a letter firmly oppossing the access to my property and that I would make thme responsible for my health IF THEY INSTALL A SMART METER!!!!...

everyone posting on here needs some serious educating. Do you talk on cell phones? do you use a wireless internet connection ? If you do, you are causing yourself 100X the harm, than this meter will cause you.

additionally, do you understand..the utility is not trying to monitor you, they are trying to conserve energy, reduce truck rolls to turn meters on/off, eliminate manual meter reads,perform time of use studies (will save you money) etc etc etc

This argument is similar to fighting the internet, cell phones, computers,etc all technologies that improve our way of life.

It'sad how many people just don't have a clue.

they are going to charge me $460.00 more year ONE and $360.00 every year there after if I choose to OP out from their smart EMF elect. meter!!!!...


has anybody in Ohio with DUKE... bought the smartmeterguard?

Check online to get direction on disabling the transmitter or damaging the IC's on the meter.

I live in Fl and refused the smart meter a couple of years ago. FP&L charge me a surcharge of 13.00 a month to keep my old meter. Worth every penny!
