Right on dude. I have had the same feeling. If we all discovered ayahuasca a few hundred years ago mainstream religions we would be living in a far different world. The Shamans have a deep understanding of nature and the infinate potential of being human and creative.
Plant based shamanism is very difficult but forces you to look inward and release the demons that we keep inside. Since my huge letting go experinces the world has been transforming, I have a great understanding of the universe and contact with my higher self. You cannot supress someone if they find their true spirit, once you break out of your shell you cannot go back into it.
You also cannot preach this, you have to look and find it yourself. After experinceing the mundane for years many start to think there seems to be something else missing in which I have to connect with. Or one may seem to be extremely bored or need a change for something, this is your spirit calling out to you.
taking mushrooms and ayahusaca with intent was the greatest thing I have ever done and my life has been totally transformed because of it. If you have the courage the universe will move obsticles, it is quite incredible to witness and experince.
