I think we're well underway into what the new age is going to be centered upon. War/famine/poverty, the clash of Christianity and Islam, and from the ashes the saving grace of Paganism.

All of the occult symbolism is in our midst, ready for the newly converted Pagan sheeple to stand in awe at how their benefactors knew 'the truth' all along and had it all worked out for them.

But even in Paganism is a method of control. True awakening lies in the realization that we are not unique. We all share identical experiences. It is the unique relationship each of us holds with the creator that can make our perspective of the shared experiences feel different. For me, at least, that is what spirituality is about - coming to an understanding of one's relationship with the creator. Religious doctrine will always impede one's efforts in this regard as any doctrine, be it set in stone or a living one, leaves no room for perspective.

There is spiritual wealth and then there is worldly wealth. One to serve others and one to serve self. You are absolutely right, OP - TPTB must at all costs prevent as many as possible from attaining spiritual wealth. He who has wealth of spirit will never bow to another for worldly goods and will rather give up his own possessions for another to achieve more spiritual wealth. All the gold in the world will fail to hold domain over a pure heart.
