I use to be a video game addict and since there was no power i couldn't play video games on my ps3, I had no cellphone to text my friends because it died, and the food was spoling to the point maggots started to grow and there was no 911, I could of got robbed, I could of got killed :( I mean being honest the first day, I survived, but when the second day came, thats when it hit me, I started to go insane, I was getting angry at everything for no reason and by the third day i didn't even feel human anymore. "I think it is better to test ourselves breaking away from all of these electronics we use in our day to day lives and see how long we can last without them finding other alternatives, Because i don't think i could of took another week of that, When the big solar flare goes off and put us back into the stone age, Humanity is going to become insanity, Just look at the world now how it depends so much on technology No tv, no twitter, no news, no politics, no cell phone, no ps3...etc. If that is what you worry about OP, I don't think you have much of a chance at surviving; especially if you were going insane on day two. Humans survived without any of those things for a very very long time. Losing power is not the end of the world. |

So I bought a hand crank coffee grinder. It took me 20 mins to hand grind enough beans for an 8 cup pot of coffee. Every time I read a post that says 'bring it on' I cringe wondering if people really have any understanding of what it would actually be like. No doom for me thanks. |

You need to practice and prepare. PS3 is not helping you do this. When the time comes, the government won't be there to help you. If you have any doubts about that...remember how long it took FEMA to get water to the Super Dome. Katrina was a test and the government failed miserably. Also remember that those who are prepared are also ready willing and able to defend their preparations. They will not only have food and necessities, but weapons. |

Wow thank you i'll remember that no you don't REMEMBER it, you go and DO IT!! As soon as possible, you go and buy one 20 litre water jerry, fill it up, and put it under your bed. Then you watch the auto shop or camping shop catalogs for when they are having a sale, and get the other jerries you need, fill them up and store them. Next time you go to the supermarket, buy a big bag of rice, or you can buy lots of little bags. Either way will work. At the auto shop get one of those plastic storage bins, put the rice in there. Also buy 2 litres of REGULAR bleach, not lemon scented or any other crap, just REGULAR bleach. you can use this for water purification, look up details on the internet. Then next sunny day, get some rice and some water, and cook some rice without electricity. It might take some hours to cook by just leaving it in the sun, but that's okay, at least you will have some food. Taste it and see what you have to add to it so that you will eat it. Obviously when you get really hungry, it will taste A LOT BETTER, so bear that in mind. You can get all this stuff for about $100 or less if you shop around. How much is a PS3 game? How much is living for a month worth to you? |
