Man builds his house on sand...due vantage point. And hopes it won't slap one down... The Siletz Bay was to be hit the hardest. Of the West Coast locations... [ link to www.fws.gov] You see that bit to the left? That is end of 'spit'. Often called the 'Jaws'. Do not swim there... [ link to www.youtube.com] All those logs you see to the right... Many are from moored ships.
Attempting to bypass the 'Jaws', who failed to understand the tides correctly... The beaches are littered with the massive skeletons of the trees which came before... Massive. yes , if you sail the seas you have to think about things /z\ because they exist in what you are doing This Bay is tricky. But hardly dangerous. It is said the 'logging' upstream nearly 'destroyed' this Bay for quite some time in its early inception. Don't press fate. Most days of the week...you can wade in barely past your ankles... :)
