There are two possibilities. One, the technology is right in front of us(a natural function) we are too blind to see;or, the technology has departed.
More fundamentally, ask yourself: what is technology?
The ability to control the myriad processes of heat and heat exchange.

Quoting: aether I'm wondering if that has to do with how supposedly people have lost extra senses that they used to have.
Quoting: Fancypantz well remembering epigentics and rapid environmental changes gaia has experienced within our past in birthing humanity out of the egg (plasmasphere) into our now forever environment (visible universe)
The study really highlights that no race of people on earth belongs to one ancestral group, rather we all have “proportions of ancestral groups," said computational biologist Rasmus Nielsen of the University of California, Berkeley. What’s more, we can begin to contemplate the fact that we are all “connected to other species - extinct smart bipeds”.

the thinking is broadly this
the consequences of birthing finally stopped manifesting in altered environmental state for people upon gaia maybe as little as 5000 yrs ago
and until those consequences finally completed people upon gaia experienced various alteration to the physical and emotional structure prompted by those changes
since the consequences completed gaia and her people have experienced a stable in comparison environment thus over that period until today we have accumulated knowing in the physical and emotional form we are now within to the point where today we have discovered enough to become fully coherent/complementary to our visible universe
and
the current altering environment is an emotional alteration not a visible physical alteration prompting us to complete our becoming fully emotionally coherent (complimentary) to/within our universe thus we will have entered our completed birthing phase leading to us become that which makes sense of all we have experienced in arriving at knowing how and why we have become what we are consciously are
