Here is the Earthquake:

ROSS SEA

According to the following website, the last Earthquake there was 10 Years ago:
[link to earthquaketrack.com]

They get there information from USGS so I'm guessing it's safe to say the last quake was indeed over 10 years ago. Also, it's so rare that there isn't a single thread on GLP stating that there has been a EQ there before...

One thread I did find on GLP about Ross Sea was this (Must Read):
Thread: Ross Ice Shelf could 'collapse quickly' and trigger a rapid rise in sea levels

I have posted the above information about the quake in that thread however, thought this quake deserved a thread of it's own seen as it's the first in over 10 years and especially it being a 5.1.....

Another thread that I will mention also is this one too:
Thread: The unusual temperature decrease in Antarctica recorded by Russian scientists

Hmmmm, what the hell happened I wonder....Will update post as soon as other articles come out on this...

Update: Further down on this page, I have posted snippets of an article from 2006 regarding Ross Ice Shelf, very interesting read....

Also been digging up some old threads and found these:

Thread: Palmer Station, Scott Base and South Pole, ANTARCTICA LISS seismo's looking VOLCANIC??

This is a good thread:
Thread: Mega Volcano Active Now near surface in Antarctica , Proved !

Someone asked wether the Ross Ice Shelf featured in the film 'The Day After Tomorrow' and here is the answer...

wasn't it the ross ice shelf at the beginning of "the day after tomorrow" that breaks apart?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19900897

Yep, your right....

In The Day After Tomorrow, the disaster threat du jour is Global Warming (tm). Dennis Quaid plays Jack Hall, the Chicken Little scientist who says that the sky is falling and who, of course, nobody listens to. After watching the Ross Ice Shelf crack and start to fall into the sea, he attends a climatology conference in New Delhi (experiencing a snowstorm) to say that ice melt from the polar ice caps may be flooding the North Atlantic with fresh water, potentially stopping the flow of the Gulf Stream. Ironic though it may sound, Global Warming could cause a new Ice Age.

Remember what NASA said at a conference last year:

Re: WOW!! Very Rare 5.1 EQ Strikes Ross Sea, Antarctica, South Pole - The Last Earthquake = 10 YEARS AGO
Article from 2006 on the Ross Ice Shelf:

Big ice shelf's disappearing act

Sediments extracted from the Antarctic seafloor show the world's largest ice shelf has disintegrated and reappeared many times in the past.

"We're seeing numerous cycles of the ice shelf or ice sheet being present at the site and then being absent," said Dr Tim Naish, a palaeoclimatologist at New Zealand's Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences and one of the chief scientists for the Antarctica Geological Drilling project (Andrill).

"These are dramatic fluctuations."

"The big question is how stable is this enormous ice shelf, the Ross Ice Shelf, which is being fed by the West Antarctic Ice Sheet," said Dr Naish.

"If we drill back in time, we can get a record of how [the Ross Ice Shelf] behaved, during times, certainly in the last million years, when we know the temperatures from the ice cores suggest that the planet was two to three degrees warmer," the Andrill project member explained.

Scientists know ice shelves are the most vulnerable part of the Antarctic. On the Antarctic Peninsula, where temperatures have risen 2.5C in the past 50 years, there have been spectacular collapses such as the demise in 2002 of the Larsen B shelf.

Mark 13:7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
Mark 13:8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

Everything checks out.
Deffo the beginnings of sorrows.

So these articles came out speaking about Palm Trees being found in Antarctica.

Here is a quote from some searching:
"The scientists used rock samples from drill cores on the seabed obtained off the coast of Wilkes Land, Antarctica, as part of the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP)."

Well Wilkes Land, Antarctica is the same general region as where the McMurdo Station is where the Earthquake just was.
Not super close, but you can see both locations on a map.

So the Earthquake was near where they've been drilling???

Take a look on a map, to the right of Wilkes Land is where the McMurdo station is.:

I have noticed that there seems to be a lot going on at the moment, including the record high temperature around the globe....Strange times indeed and getting worse it seems.

Nice post OP !

bump

where do ya start ? man made global warming over the past 10 million years ? gorebot

Its like driving down the road wearing a pair of binnoculars on yer face, surely the past say 50,000 years would be worth more immediate consideration ?!.

I'd be keen to see what the 3500, 5000 and 12,500 yr cycles showd up ! would be another excellent method to correlate with ancient texts etc, provide some "evidence" toward wider acceptance of alternative history. :)

Trippy there was a large quake at this ones antipode, yesterday ?

Yeah, maybe, but they have been drilling quite a while so it makes one wonder why there hasn't been an EQ there since 2006, if it were in the general area of the EQ that is....

This happened at Christchurch ! they were test drilling or using sonar or something like that to search for minerals / oil, the same shit thats been killing dolphins and the like.
It was happening around the days of the Big quake, just befor they got the permit to do it FFS.
