Seriously, feminism was an inevitable byproduct of urbanization and modernization. Unless a woman had 12 kids, being a homemaker in a modern city was no longer a fulltime career.
Women no longer had a fulfilling role at home and looked elsewhere to see what they could find to fulfill their lives.
Recall that before WW2, women were doing factory work and during the war, moved into industry to make weapons and ammunition while the men went off to war.
It was inevitable that women would seek out education and careers.
People can argue how that played out in different cultures and communities, but the notion that urban women should stay at home playing housewife till they're ready for the rest home is absurd.
