Tolerance does not exist

I think tolerance is all around, but it is quiet. it can disagree without fighting you, or attempting to strip you of your dignity. it sits humbly in the background without argument. that's why it's so easy to overlook.

I think most people are tolerant to differing degrees. All tolerance has limits, and those limits depend on how insufferable, pushy or demanding someone is. It is not necessary to agree with someone to like or accept them as a friend. I have friends who are from different political, religious and cultural backgrounds. What makes it easy for me to tolerate them, and them to tolerate me, is that we respect each others right to a set of opinions and do not try to push one side or another as if it were a mutually exclusive truth.

This thread is dumb but i'm tolerating it.

Well it was all last week, when I said that I agree with what the bible says about marriage I was demonized as a person that hates gay people. So where is the tolerance for my opinion? People ask to tolerance of what they believe but dont want to be tolerant themselves.

You should not take it personally. You were merely a target of a technique of dialectic, invented by Lenin. There are extremest groups who have been taught how to make assumptions and push them with force, so as to deflect the mind from an analytical posture and force it into defensive mode. This is nothing but a conventional left wing trick. You should go and learn Leninism so that you can defend yourself from it. A pert of the reason that Leninism is winning in the US today is that during the 1950s it was demonized, and as a consequence large numbers of people never learned its techniques and are now vulnerable to them.

I'll tolerate you as long as you don't try to physically harm me you can say whatever you want, do whatever you want. You probably shouldn't physically harm anyone else if I'm around to see it either. I guess that's my only stipulation on tolerance. Use your words not your fists.

o come on OP, thats sad. Were pretty tolerant down under. I mean people put up with my shit. Its best to just have a considerate attitude really, it aint all bad, really.
Why dont you put away the computer and tell someone special in your life that you love them, even if its someone from long ago. Make the effort. Send them a nice message.
