Ruger Mini 14 or SKS - which to grab first when the SHTF?

My sks is a type 56 detachable.Takes an AK mag.very lethal.come at me mfs.

As long as you dont need to hit anything with it.

The barrel is too thin, it has no longer distance accuracy.

Get the SKS and shoot a looter with a mini 14 if you really want one.

I remember reading of a test where many different rifles were put through their paces in a swamp. Most rifles failed including the mini 14. The sks held up. Both excellent rifles. If you get the sks, stay with the iron sights and don't change a thing. I would go with the newer Tapco 20 rnd mags for the sks and if rich the Ruger mags for the mini 14.

Exactly, as I have said before all you need is one gun and one bullet. The rest will be provided by Uncle Sam's loyalist, and they got the good stuff. Hardly broken in and only carried once.

Its a real military weapon....Its cheaper and doesn't rely on expensive proprietary magazines...when ammo was cheap(69 bucks a case), I fired off a whole case without cleaning and had ZERO malfunctions....full confidence in my SKS....my Mini 14 had some malfunction with the same test and a wandering zero when the barrel heated up....

If you can't get the AK the SKS is the next best thing.
