Yeah melanin's great.
It does have some side effects though.
1) It reduces IQ.
2) It decreases strength.
Look at athletics for example. Melanin enhanced people run faster, but people with less melanin are the best in all the field items that require strength, such as hammer throw, shot put, discus, high jumping and pole vault etc.
If you look at the recent Olympic winners and world record holders of the weight lifting type sports, they all have less melanin.
