People who are 40 years and under just don't believe that humans have been on the moon. It has never happened in their lifetime. Something that awesome should have happened again (and again) in 40 years.

If the US can spend 1.2 Trillion dollars on Defense each year, then the US could have easily afforded to build a lunar base by now. Apollo made it look like it was easy to accomplish sans Apollo 13.

But instead they built shuttles and a space station, when a badass satellite is right there and easily accessible (according to 1970 technology).
