I think the problem you have is NOT understanding how we got here and what here even means! The institutions of man are in high gear pushing their agenda in full force. You need to understand the pain and suffering people have witnessed and then maybe you might start to understand a little better.

Social democracy is superior to our system. That's why northern Europe and Canada now have a higher standard of living than we do. Comparisons to Cuba are not reasonable, because Cuba is communist, not socialist. Those are two very different things. We socialists are NOT for totalitarianism, but we realize that capitalism without the temperment of socialism can only create a highly stratified society with a small number of haves exploiting the labor of the many for their own personal gain. That is unacceptable.

Traditionally liberals are called "bleeding hearts" because they want everyone to have everything they need for an adequate if not comfortable life. It hurts us to see people suffering when we have so much.

I am middle of the road. My view is if you don't support conservative views they say fuck you and move on. Northern Europe has money problems because they've had to subsidize the non-industrial southern European countries, not from each country taking care of its own. No nation should have to subsidize another. If the nations of the world replace the debt-based private central banking with a resource-based economy, there would be plenty for all. Socialism is not to blame for any of this.
