It was written by a woman.. Second, she only quoted Wiki about the estimated explosion's power.. but also quoted popular citizen reporter, Dutchsince, and confirmed by her own sources this weekend...

Source for explosion is irrelevant. Anyone can tell you that 1.5 MILLIION barrels of liquid Methane would be a historic explosion.

Multiple government agencies looking into 'gas bubbles' in Assumption Parish

Bayou Corne, La (NBC33) — Though there is still no word on where methane gas bubbles are coming from in Assumption Parish, the United States Geological Survey says they've installed devices to help figure it out.

The bubbles have been showing up in the Bayou Corne area for almost two months; some in the area have said they've felt tremors.

So, the USGS installed devices that will help them pinpoint where the tremors are coming from. The devices will collect readings for at least the next four months.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality says they're also in the area, and they say there's no concern of anything igniting.

“Assumption Parish has asked DEQ to come down there to collect data and to do a hazard assessment,” stated Chris Piehler with Louisiana DEQ. “So far, we have found no reason for anyone to be concerned about any threats, hazards or pollution.”

A second community meeting was held on the gas bubbles issue just last week in Bayou Corne.

Me too, but nothing about methane bubbles in the waters OR people's houses are moving... OP has a good find on this article. Plus Dupree Updates her stuff as soon as she acquires more info. She was a great source for the GOM spill.

So....does it require a spark to ignite or just the introduction of one gas to another?

Authorities enacted a mandatory evacuation for between 100 and150 homes in the area, but most people have chosen to stay, according to the Mayor's Office of Emergency Preparedness. If any of the dangers seem to become more imminent, the order will be escalated to a forced evacuation.

In the days after the sinkhole opened up on Aug. 3, nearby Highway 70 was closed down because officials discovered that the sinkhole caused a 36-inch natural gas pipeline to bend and feared the possibility of an explosion, according to ABC News' Baton Rouge affiliate WBRZ.

"That's why the mandatory evacuation is going to stay on, because there is a risk for explosion," John Boudreaux of from Assumption Parish Emergency Preparedness said at a meeting with residents on Tuesday, WBRZ reported.

Gov. Bobby Jindal issued a declaration of emergency allowing the Governor's Office of Homeland Security to assist in the efforts if necessary.

"This is extremely serious and it's been going on for too long to still be at this point," Kim Torres, spokeswoman for the Office of Emergency Preparedness, told ABCNews.com today. "The people are very aware of how serious this is."

Fast forward to August: Now there's a radioactive sinkhole leading to a caver filled with 2 years toxic sludge and bordering a methane well of epic proportions. This is all centered in an area labeled as "an oil refinery haven in the heart of the nation's Cancer Alley, is crisscrossed with oil and gas pipelines"..

If the breech is just right it could generate enough heat, via friction, to ignite itself...but it's not likely...hopefully lightening strikes it

So basically, if the sinkhole expands, or causes a pipeline to break and start a fire (think california) anywhere near that methane cave, it's going to blow the literal fuck out of everything over there, possibly with more chain reactions due to salt domes, refineries, pipelines, oil reserves, etc..

For it to explode, you still need the right mix of butane and oxygen. As long as the O2 is excluded it should not blow. ??

Worse case scenario the whole fucking GOM just explodes.. Then we can put those new navy-issued US maps to use..
