An AR-15 is a much better choice than an AK-47. Live by the currents, plan by the tides, and follow the sun. |

Pretty pieces of very well machined metal :-) It makes little difference how many guns are out there if ammo becomes restricted since over time most of the existing stock of ammo would be used up via shooting at the gun range, learning to shoot, etc. etc.. How many people actually have enough ammo stored to provide for their recreational and learning needs for the next 10 years? Virtually NONE!! Only a few survivalists would, and it would be a very very small number of even the survivalists. How many rounds would it take to maintain enough so that one could still have a functional weapon after a 10 year "NEW" ammo ban (and a ban on th ematerials for reloading? Probably on the order of 10,000 rounds for EACH weapon, more for those who shoot recreationally on a regular basis. (some ex military supply officers tell me that the US Military used to figure that an average infantryman used on average 300 rounds per day when on a combat assignement. I don't know if that is still the rule of thumb, but in any case that shows how fast ammo can be used up when it is absolutely needed in a military setting) Forget the number of guns ... and look at the ammo supply. Guns without ammo are like cars without gasoline. Pretty pieces of well machined metal. |
