50 trapped in German ice rink roof collapse

The roof of an ice rink in a town in the Bavarian Alps in southern Germany has collapsed under the weight of heavy snow, trapping at least 50 people inside.

A police spokesman in the southern German town of Bad Reichenhall on the Austrian border said it was unclear how many casualties there had been.

The area around the rink has been evacuated and the rescue efforts are being complicated by continuing snowfall.
