But the FCC has long argued that Universal Service is a fee that the providers choose to pass on to consumers and not a tax. /snip lol |

Damrod User ID: 6266696 United States 08/26/2012 12:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Geesh...why am I not surprised. The Gubbmemt is scrambling for any source of revenue to continue feeding and growing the monstrous abomination called "bureaucracy"...All those gov workers sitting at a desk and pulling six figures to decide if they need this $400.00 shovel or that one. It's like in local municipalities. The cops don't patrol the hoods and ghettos anymore, they patrol the middle and upper class neighborhoods. They know they can write more tickets and pull in the revenue they need to pay their own salaries. Some will say "but they are protecting your assetts"...right...with a citation book. The abomination is unsustainable and they know it...so they keep looking for more and more ways to make average people carry the burden of their costs. Gov workers...top to bottom...should not make more than 50-60 k a year. I don't care what you do. Not good enough? Get a real job then. Gov workers should be there to serve, not profit. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 9596450 United States 08/26/2012 01:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Federal Communications Commission is eyeing a proposal to tax broadband Internet service. Quoting: Phennommennonn The move would funnel money to the Connect America Fund, a subsidy the agency created last year to expand Internet access. The FCC issued a request for comments on the proposal in April. Dozens of companies and trade associations have weighed in, but the issue has largely flown under the public's radar. Numerous companies, including AT&T, Sprint and even Google have expressed support for the idea. finish it here [link to thehill.com] FUCK THEM. Why am I being targetted to pay for people who can't afford it. WTF. This will be unopposed and will go through like everthing else in this fucken socialist country welcome to the new USSA |

Psych User ID: 903456 Netherlands 08/26/2012 02:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The construction of high-speed Internet networks to the estimated 19 million Americans who currently lack access should be dealt with by local service providers. If service providers are able to earn back their investment and make a profit, they will construct it. If that is not the case and the government will do it instead because there is no money to be made, it is money down the drain, taxpayers money. |
