Belgium - Unidentified aircrafts in sky (Region of Aalst-Brussels)
Hi guys,

Most of you know me as a pretty sceptic guy, but this evening (about 20 min ago) I was smoking a cigarette outside, and I saw a fleet of about 5 to 10 red-orange objects in the sky.

At first I thought : what a lot of airplanes.
However, after a couple of seconds they started to break up formation.

Directional info :

Direction of origin : North/North West (north sea)
Direction of goal :
- one remained on place (I guess somewhere between Aalst and Ghent). Disappeared afterwards, but I did not see as I went inside to take my camera. I was too late to tape it.
- A couple of them went straight south (direction of Brussels). One of the object had a much higher speed than a traditional jet fighter or civilian airplane
- 2 or so went South-East.

Color of the objects : Orange / Red-Orange
Also note that they had NO lights as a traditional aircraft (the red/blue wing lights)
The objects did also NOT have white head lights (most aircrafts are visible due to their bright white lights).

With this post I would want to ask if ANYONE here on the forum coming from Belgium/Netherlands/France/Luxemburg or UK did see a similar thing in the sky.

This really freaked me out...

Hi,
Seriously, in most cases I am mocking myself those guys reporting Ufo's. I am a VERY down to earth guy.

Those objects went way faster than a traditional aircraft. I live not too far from Belgium's main airport (about 30 km), so a lot of airtraffic here which allows me to see if something is going really fast.

If those where chinese lanterns, they where flying miles high, so they had to be giant.

No, really, those were machines. And what worries me most : if an aircraft flies over here, you can hear it, especially at night.
Right now, about 5 to 10 flew over, and all you could hear was the wind and the cars in the distance. No engine sounds of airplanes at all.

Come on guys, I am not posting for having my 5 min of GLP fame. I just want to know if anyone in Belgium or the surrounding countries saw the same. It's currently a crystal clear sky, so someone else MUST have seen this (it was not that those things were sneaky, it was almost that what they did was to make VERY clear they were there).

My thought too.

My exact location (only of use for belgian people) : I live near Erpe-Mere. That's between Ghent and Aalst, not too far from the E40 highway

OK. Found a solution :

This is a picture of one. Very blurry, I know. But it shows the color. There were about 8 or 10 of them. The one who was sitting still in mid air, miles high really freaked me out.

Anywhere, people would call the police or the airport, I guess.

From the description, I also thought it could be Chinese lanterns. They´re often mistaken for UFOs. If there are winds aloft, they could be traveling rather fast. When they die out, people often get the impression that the objects are suddenly accelerating very rapidly.

Nope. For sure not Chinese lanterns. They were way to high up in the sky. And secondly, they flew faster than an civil airplane, much faster. Once those things started moving, I had to look from NNE to SSW. Seen their height, this was a lot of distance in a very short timespan (I checked today by timing civil airplanes flying over, and it takes much longer, and you can hear the engine noise).
And the one who was hovering for about 1 or 2 min. longer than the rest was completely NOT normal. (It seemed that it grew bigger to about 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 before it started moving too.

And : today there were helicopters flying off and on following the route I reported to a Belgian organization who takes Ufo's seriously : they do research and try to find a suitable explanation. When they don't find it, they make a detailed report and publish it on the internet (plain public).
