Anonymous Coward User ID: 23012068 Brazil 09/01/2012 06:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I guess I'm the winner so far: I had chickenpox one month before I turned 43!!! I was exposed to the virus many times since childhood so I also thought I was immune to it. However, one beautiful day, there came the fever, the itching and those nasty things (blisters) erupted all over my body. But I was lucky, the symptons disappeared as soon as I was treated (it took sometime for the blisters to dry completely and vanish altogether). Fortunately, it left just two little identations on the side of my nose and a tiny white spot in my chest. (I was terrified there would be visible scars but that didn't happen. Thank God!) If I were you, I would take the vaccine despite all the reservations against it. The doctor was very emphatic (scary even) when he explained all the risks involved if the treatment wasn't taken seriously. Anyway, I hope your case is just like what was described by other posters: as a child you had a mild case of chickenpox, which you don't remember, and became immune! Best wishes P.S.: "Perebas" is the Brazilian Portuguese word used to describe the blisters that erupt from your head to the sole of your feet. |

Quoting: Nicolemare From what I have heard over the years if you get it later in life it is ALOT worse to deal with and can possibly result in death! I had them when I was 21, it wasn't the easiest thing I've been thru but I got thru them just fine. vaccinefreehealth blogspot com The risk far outweighs any benefit as the risk will vary from child to child. facebook.com/graphixyourway |

Nonsense! Just look after yourself and do the bed rest thing - don't over exert yourself. You'll be sicker for longer as well, but that DOES NOT mean you're going to die. |

He's a carpenter, so he was down with serious bronchitis due to a house they were working on that was full of MDF. He was already on the medpac when the chicken pox happened, but he was on the floor crawling just to get from one place to the next, since he couldn't breathe well, and then started the seizures. He'd never had a seizure in his life until the chicken pox. At 42, he's had several now, all minor petit mal seizures, but still.... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1546575 immunity means your body developed T-cells in response to a new virus, this means you have immunity next time it enters your body. Whoops I used the wrong word I guess! It's not immune then but What is it called when you cant get something??? I am also immuned to Chicken Pox. When I was in grade school my two sisters (who close to my age) came down with Chicken Pox. My parents took us all to the Doctor and found that I was immune, had no sighn of the disease. Years later with my own family, all four of my grade school childern came down with Chicken Pox and my wife got the Shingles a second out break for her because she had Chicken Pox as a child. I was exposed to them and did not aquire the disease. INFJ; We are the protectors. |

If I had not I wouold keep some Olive Leaf capsules, as well as Skullcap capsules, around at all times. These two herbs are said to surround viruses and expel them from the body. I can't speak to their affect on CP but flu viruses never see the light of day around my house because of these two herbs, even the mean ones like swine and bird flus. I often wonder whether some people who are resistant (as opposed to immune) are so because they ingest one or the other of these two, or maybe some variant of them. Olive oil is something of a powerful tonic all by itself and could be one of the reasons. I also had a Greek friend who claimed he would never have to worry about getting AIDS since he drank olive oil every day. Hope this helps. giigowabamin |

Meanwhile, she spent 3 days in the hospital with ecoli and is stil recovering. It's possible you had the chicken pox, but your immune system kicked it's but early on and you didn't show many symptoms. Go to your doctor and ask for a titer test. It's a blood test that will tell you if you have had chicken pox or not. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1474948 United States 06/04/2013 11:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sometimes kids can get them so lightly there might only be couple on their entire body so parents think they never had them. One of my kids had them really bad, she was covered in them. My son, who was a baby at the time had maybe four. Although I read somewhere that if you have a very light case when young you have a greater chance of having Shingles when you get older. Don't know if they still think that is true or not. |

Quoting: ANHEDONIC Is it true that chicken pox leaves a single indentation/scar on your body? I have a small scar on my chest and was always told as a kid it was from my case of chicken pox.... Looks like a small indentation about the size of a small mole. I still have a scar from one. I got them about 20 years ago. its not an indentation, just a white scar. Got it at six and almost a few decades later I have a couple round intendations, I remember being the worst round bubbles .. turned to scars .. It is deadly as an adult .. my mother purposly exposed us In our state kids are required to have them or not be allowed in school.. unless you get a note Exposure is probably lessened in the US, but don't get em .. they have a sneaky incubation period If your dreams don't scare you.. they aren't big enough. |
