Massive Object Blocks the Sun, Is It.... | |

Out of curiosity, do they teach how to calculate the orbit from a set of astrometric observations (data reduction) or do they just teach how to do calculations from the orbital elements of the satellite? Either way, it's more than they teach in high school physics over here in the US (the only thing they taught here were some basics on conic sections and escape velocity). Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23334877 We learned the calculation from the orbital elements of the satelite. Thats basic here. But i need to admit , it was long time ago :) We have a 3 way school system, the ones who arent that talented, the others who are average and the last who are more inteligent than the others. i was in the average school. |

SDO ECLIPSE SEASON: Twice every year, around the time of the equinoxes, Earth can pass directly between the Sun and NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), producing a series of beautiful eclipses from the point of view of the spacecraft. SDO's autumnal eclipse season began yesterday, Sept. 6th, with a partial blackout of the sun... www.spaceweather.com |

Anyone with a telescope can track and calculate SDO's orbit for themselves. Thread: I'm watching the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) right now. Ask me a question!
