I don't think so, because to do so would invoke the NATO alliance agreement where an attack on one member (Turkey, in this case) is considered an attack on all members. That would open the door to direct U.S., British, and French involvement, probably in the form of a "no fly zone" over Syria, coupled with intermittent aerial bombardment of key Syrian military installations, like what was done to Libya.

But it's a good question. Anything's possible. Like you said, the majority of these foreign fighters in the "Free Syrian Army" seem to be infiltrating Syria from Turkey.

Syria would get booted out pretty darn fast. Turkey has the sixth strongest military in the world according to Global firepower rankings. Higher than Israel. Moral of the story... Don't be messing with Turkey!

Syria wasted their time and resources I think.

They did not develop and modernise their army, and military, unlike Iran, who did not sit idle, but went about developing missiles etc.

What happened to Syria?

Lack of understanding of World situation? or an inept corrupt government?
