Unprepped for whatever might happen...

However, I have gold. A part of me wants to keep it and see it grow, a part of me sees that if something major goes down, no one will buy it and I will be without supplies. I'm sort of holding onto it to keep above water on debt. I need GLPer's opinion and to why i should hold on? or sell 1 and use it to buy supplies?
