China can ask for the island not to be used as a military base since its so close to the mainland -
But the real reason maybe Japan maybe ready to exploit it for Natural gas - and China wants to grab all the natural recources it can
Japan will not back down because they know they are in the right according to the law (treaty that China signed)
Quoting: What if ? ...and exactly how far do our treaty obligations go regarding defending Japan? Is this possibly affected or modified if Japan fires first? On the worlds largest standing military?
