Michelle Obama's Reduced Calorie Lunch Leaves Kids Hungry

Michelle Obama's toned and taut upper arms leave me hungry for more.

I've often wondered and maybe a few of you good people of GLP can splain it to meh......

Why is it peanuts and or peanut butter isn't tolerated in schools for a healthy lunch or snack yet homosexuality is excepted and taught to be healthy and natural??

I mean only the FEW are allergic to peanuts yet the 98-99% of the other students have to suffer for it?? Yet if one or two students have been led astray from the natural and traditional laws of attraction, why is it the other 99% of healthy sexual orientation minded students have to suffer for the perversions of the few??

I think I'm seeing a trend here now that I've typed it out.

Most school lunches could use more protein items as well as veggies and carbs.

Most lunches are really inadequate for kids who are having growing spurts. Most teenage boys could just sit outside an open fridge for an hour and could easily devour a whole chicken from one of the grocery stores.

They need it. From the time they are 12 or 13, most boys will grow a foot or more and need more food in them than they will ever need again.

The breakfasts are better but not a lot of kids get to school early to have it.

Part of the problem is that too much of what is served in the school is not actually prepared there. It is processed rather than freshly made even in schools with fully equipped kitchens. The food waste in most school lunchrooms is appalling.

Actually, the kids would be better off if the schools just contracted out to Subway for double meat sandwiched. Give a footlong to everyone a few days a week and do spaghetti primavera (veggies) with turkey meatballs and chicken with mac & cheese and veggies the other two days.

These are the things kids like besides burgers and a taco.

That makes no sense! Everybody knows that growing children need extra protein in a lower calorie diet.

When are we going to stop these political moralists from telling us what to do and when to do it?

isn't it a scientific fact that when children are hungry they don't learn as well, they don't retain what is taught, they become sullen, depressed and aggressive?

Why is the government doing a job they aren't responsible for?

Why have we allowed this federal government to become so big and overpowering.

Power should be

first-to the families
second-to the schools and community
third-through the state level

our government should be in charge of the military, and just a FEW other things

Our schools in WV adopted this plan as well. The bigger kids ARE complaining they are hungry. They are allowed to have as much vegetables as they want. So if a kid is REALLY hungry, they can get more vegies.We all got to see what is being served, and it is enough. No more french fries and chicken nuggets, folks!!! Parents- pack your kids a lunch if you are not happy.

Get the Government OUT of our personal lives. It's NONE of their business WHAT our kids eat. Parents aren't allowed to pack lunches and they give our kids poor lunches. Obesity and poor health is a result of all the GMO foods they have allowed these corporations to implement in our food supply, not the result of Snickers bars. Shame on us for allowing this Bull****.

I would personally take foods such as cottage cheese, brocolli and chicken, meat and beans... then eat it at school and middle finger the neo-cons.

In my opinion the controlling and skimping on food appears to be a test program where they gain knowledge as to where problems arise and how to squelch the complaints. Without a doubt obama is creating the government dependent class in America with easily obtained SNAP, disability, and other welfare programs.

However, with unemployment up and more layoffs and businesses continue to close thus our ever-decreasing tax base is diminishing and eventually the government will no be able to continue the welfare state at its current level.

You forgot to add that our terrible fattness is just a very few percentage points higher than Britain and your own. Very close race actually.

When I was in highschool I ate 2 pizzas, a large salad, 2 packs of cookies, and 4 cartons of milk. The cookies were otis spunkmeyer.

I played football and could bench 300+ pounds, squat 600, and run 5 miles like it was nothing.

Fatness of kids has nothing to do with lunches at school because I easily consumed 2000 calories at lunch every day. I also played hard too.

I was 6'1 255 pounds of pure nightmare on the field. Kids just need more activity and less tv.

I had practice until about 6pm, came home, ate dinner, did homework and slept. No time for any video games, or facebook, or twitter nonsense.

Yes, the students pay about $1. That is unless you are one of the 47% who don't ever pay for much of anything like the rest of us.

There is a huge "free lunch" program from the federal government that provides the meals free for a large number of students. Supposed to qualify by income and size of household much like food stamps.

Many schools also now provide breakfast as well. Some parents just can't be bothered.

Dear God!! Would you guys PLEASE STOP giving these buttmunches any more ideas!!!...86 the whining when they come home and say "Guess What?" We HAD to learn Kenya's national anthem today at school. They are already FORCING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN TO WRITE IN ARABIC!! My mother is a bus driver and 2 yrs ago she found a paper on her bus that was a "handout sheet" FROM THE SCHOOL, and the entire thing was in arabic!!! It has the arabic letters and they had to write underneath each one the american letters! And we are in small town BFE!. My mom couldnt believe what she find whike sweeping her bus. She showed it to me and I was like WTH is this! She said this is what the school is teaching our American children. SAD, SAD, SAD!

Ever try to push hummus on a second grader...that's something that is showing up on food trays now.

I live in the poorest county in this state..for some kids the school lunch is all they get to eat...

This causes more division between income levels and makes the poor kids resent the wealthy who can leave and go buy something tasty.

Exactly what I was thinking.

My son just started kindergarten and the teacher has sent home notes asking us to send the kids in with more snacks. We had open house last night and she asked again to please send in more snacks that the kids are complaining that they are hungry.

The lunch is 2.25 and yesterday they served 3 chicken nuggets. My son didn't complain because he is not a big eater but other parents are complaining that it is just not enough food.

Here the parents of probably 35% of these kids spend all their government cash on booze and alcohol. I was standing in the grocery line one day...the man in front of me had two kids that were saying,"dad, I am hungry!" he ignored them and bought a six pack of beer...

Moochelle has two kids in a private school that charges over 40,000 a year to attend...she has forgotten all about the reality of poor children.
