You are correct they will choose something most people consider bad to keep the outrage from the sheep down and once they open the door there is no closing it. It is much as the taxation and regulations placed upon tobacco by our federal and state government claiming to be for the good of the stupid people who could not be trusted to make their own decisions. |

Seems that all of these 'grand' bodies now need to get into a legal way of extorting money from the plebs under the guise of 'if they comply with advice it'll cost them less'. i.e. Don't smoke; don't pay, Reduce your Carbon foot-print; pay less, etc. We seem to have entered a pretty scary scenario where un-elected groups will be soon be in a position to dictate their whims onto everyone, just because our elected 'leaders' didn't see the end-game and signed up to it because it was vogue at the time. |

I can’t stand the stench or the litter that results from inconsiderate ill-mannered smokers who carelessly toss their cigarettes out car windows and squash them on the ground wherever they happen to be standing at the moment. BUT Government taxes on legal products for no other reason than to pressure the public into stopping something that governments can’t get a law passed to stop is wrong. What is worse is that the WHO and the UN do not have the authority to levy a tax on American citizens because they do not represent us and have no place in our legislative process whatsoever. If this is allowed to happen by our corrupt NWO biased government then you can bet your ass other taxes, regulations, and violations of basic rights will follow. Think they can’t or won’t ban free speech or guns? This attempt at a world tax without representation from an organization so far removed from any control of US citizens is a step towards a tyranny that can not be peacefully undone. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Exactly, put aside your opinions on smoking as it really is not the issue instead, it is a stepping-stone for all these global entities to gain access to our wallets and once in they will NEVER have enough money. |

This is a door that should not be opened for any reason after all it is the WHO that established Codex Alimentarius whereby the ultimate goal will be all vitamins, minerals and supplements will be regulated by them. It is not about cigarettes in any way it is about a multinational organization who wants the ability to tax without borders. This will explode if allowed and every multination organization out there will want a piece of the pie. We are just begging the UN to start taxing countries for “defending” them. If you think that is an acceptable violation of your liberties then further conversation with you is pointless. That is also the exact type of tyrannical control over your private life that the UN wants. If you think the UN will stop at cigarettes you must be a brainwashed idiot. Those who would sacrifice a little liberty for a little security deserve neither and will lose both. "God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. This will cause crime to increase and taxes will have to be raised on the public to fund a larger police force and build more prisons. In the end, taxpayers will enjoy footing $40k+ a year per inmate and policemen will spend more time cracking down on cigarette growers/dealers instead of hardened criminals. Also, as other posters have mentioned, this will be just the beginning of new global taxes. Whatever happened to no taxation without representation? If governments and other bureaucracies were really smart they'd make a law to ban bad behavior and make a law requiring us all to be rich. Problem solved. |
