wait..hhmm..looks fishy..

"With the price of gold skyrocketing in today's market, Michigan State University researchers have discovered a bacterium that can withstand high toxicity levels that are necessary to create natural gold. '"Microbial alchemy is what we're doing — transforming gold from something that has no value into a solid, precious metal that's valuable," said Kazem Kashefi, assistant professor of microbiology and molecular genetics.' The bacteria is Cupriavidus metallidurans, which is conditioned to be tolerant to heavy, toxic metals and to be 25 times stronger than most bacteria. When put into gold-chloride (a natural forming toxic liquid), the bacteria reproduces and converts the liquid into a gold nugget. The complete process takes about a week to perform. This experiment is currently on tour as an art exhibit called 'The Great Work of the Metal Lover.'

NOW...SOMEONE NAMED KESHE? OH OOOO...

He [Kashefi] and Adam Brown, associate professor of electronic art and intermedia, found the metal-tolerant bacteria Cupriavidus metallidurans can grow on massive concentrations of gold chloride" The senior person on the project is a professor of art.

"the bacteria are at least 25 times stronger than previously reported among scientists, the researchers determined in their art installation, "The Great Work of the Metal Lover," which uses a combination of biotechnology, art and alchemy to turn liquid gold into 24-karat gold."

"The artwork contains...."

""The Great Work of the Metal Lover" uses a living system as a vehicle for artistic exploration...."

"Using ancient gold illumination techniques, Brown applied 24-karat gold leaf to regions of the prints where a bacterial gold deposit had been identified so that each print contains some of the gold produced in the bioreactor."

""This is neo-alchemy. Every part, every detail of the project is a cross between modern microbiology and alchemy," Brown said. "Science tries to explain the phenomenological world. As an artist, I'm trying to create a phenomenon. Art has the ability to push scientific inquiry.""

""Art has the ability to probe and question the impact of science in the world, and 'The Great Work of the Metal Lover' speaks directly to the scientific preoccupation while trying to shape and bend biology to our will within the postbiological age," Brown said."

WIKI...

It is an aerobic chemolithoautotroph, facultatively able to grow in a mineral salts medium in the presence of H2, O2 and CO2 without an organic carbon source.[7] The energy providing subsystem of the cell under these conditions is composed only of the hydrogenase, the respiratory chain and the F1F0-ATPase. This keeps this subsystem simple and clearly separated from the anabolic subsystems that starts with the Calvin cycle for CO2-fixation.
It is able to degrade xenobiotics even in the presence of high heavy metal concentrations.[8]
Finally, strain CH34 is adapted to the outlined harsh conditions by a multitude of heavy metal resistance systems that are encoded by the two indigenous megaplasmids pMOL28 and pMOL30 on the bacterial chromosome(s)

Also it plays a vital role, together with the species Delftia acidovorans, in the formation of gold nuggets, by precipitating metallic gold from a solution of gold (III) tetrachloride, a compound highly toxic to most other microorganisms.

The above statment meanws..raining gold!

HHMM..IF THEY REALLY GET THIS TO A 100 STEP CHEP PROCESS..GOLDTARDS WE DONT RIDE...Oh Shit

A metal-tolerant bacterium has been found to be able to convert gold chloride — a toxic chemical compound found in nature — into 24-karat gold.

“Microbial alchemy is what we’re doing — transforming gold from something that has no value into a solid, precious metal that’s valuable,” said Kazem Kashefi, an assistant professor of microbiology and molecular genetics at Michigan State University (MSU).

GO US..WAY TO GO..U JUST TRASHED THE GOLD FUTURE STANDARD WITH TAX PAYER DOLLARS..

Nice..now go patent it..so U MAKE ALL THE MONEY WE PAID U TO LEARN.

AGAIN..THANKS! THIS WILL GO-VIRAL! and by fri..well God only knows

Again, this is old news. 2009. Not as old as a Drudge Report "breaking news" video, but still old.

Superman-Strength Bacteria Produce 24-Karat Gold (Oct. 2, 2012) — At a time when the value of gold has reached an all-time high, researchers have discovered a bacterium's ability to withstand incredible amounts of toxicity is key to creating 24-karat .|

refined..they have been making this bacteria more efficient.

What they don't tell you is, we've been able to turn mercury into gold for decades. It's just far to costly and in such small quantities that it isn't financially feasable.

The same was said about synthetic diamonds for the first few decades we could make them. Before they figured out a way to turn out weaker versions for industrial use, it was almost abandoned.

Gold tards would be done in - they would probably find that bacteria and extinguish it off the face of the earth.
