This is very common in higher circles of occult groups and orders. Leaders are often "brought in", so are "consultants". I have verified this from own personal experience and participation. I have never read his books, but it sounds to me like he is one of few that have observed parts of the Trap System, and understood that there is something more sinister to our existence than most people are aware of. He did observe the Mind Control / Brainwashing procedure, and the Amnesia-induction, so he did get further than most ever do.
