What most people do not understand about fuel prices, and oil prices aside from supply and demand issues... The value of the dollar has impact on oil prices and prices at the pumps as well.

Especially when speculators are anticipating a sharp decline in the BUYING value of the dollar for oil commodities.

I don't buy it, the higher prices and all.
OK, I get the shortage thing, there may be issues with a few refineries.

BUT, why an increase in price, oil companies didn't pay more for crude there selling now, refineries aren't paying more for refining fuel there selling now. So why is fuel costing more money?

Gouging, I say, can't these oil companies just sell gas at the same price regardless of the refining issues?

...and price gouging during a crisis is against the law.

we have a MONEY problem, not a commodity problem. even so assuming the myth of a supply and demand mkt, the ppg would not neccessarily be uniform.
