The guy who invented high frequency trading called in from the U.K. a couple weeks ago to a texas radio show, and mentioned he has silver coins made with his image on them.

The host said he broke the golden rule, have not heard from him on that show since then. Also they have coins with Ron Pauls image on them.

If you are worried about TSHTF you dont want something that has high numismatic value, but at the same time, if you by the national minted stuff (maple leafs, eagles) there will be lots of counterfeits out there. (in TSHTF)

If TS(doesnt)HTF as other posters mentioned, AMPEX is a big shop and should have no problem buying your stuff back, less shipping. chose a smaller dealer if you investigate their record and if they support an agenda you identify with.

The dirty silver (pre-1960s) US coins can be had reasonable, but I dont think they are the goto unless you actually have the ability to assay and recast.

See if there are any gun shows coming to your area. There are quite a few vendors that sell PM's. If you don't see what you like, buy bullets. Much more of a PM : )

If you're careful SE's and 1oz bars and rounds are OK. I agree US 90% coins are safe in halves, quarters and dimes. I mostly have junk US coins in 90%. Numismatically challenged as I call them.
