No, it's shares are owned by the member banks. It's a privately held association of member banks that has a government charter expiring on Dec 21st of next year I believe. The American people do not own it, and in fact are responsible for paying back the bonds that the Fed sells on behalf of the U.S. govt.

Gary Johnson is wrong in those two clips (sentences), but I'm not changing my vote over it.

And he's right, stockholders ARE taxpayers and they DO own the federal reserve. That was the point he was trying to make.

As for the other comment, people on You tube saying he never said that, that it's his words spliced together. And actually, if you look at his mouth, it doesn't look like he said ANY of the words that are on the taped video.

yeah sounds about right to me. i know i have read plenty of AMAs on Reddit where Johnson has explicitly stated he wants to end the FED. He does not support the Federal Reserve regardless of who owns it..
