As the Hawk said, Anon, it comes down to what you want to say. The six months is damn impressive and that time is yours. Regarding the smokes of the last few weeks, it comes down to how you frame it and, certainly, not how we would label it. How do you feel about it?

If it were me, I'd say I faced-down two firing squads and refused the blindfold both times, but accepted the smoke held to my lips by the Mexican General's hand thinking it was the occasion of my death. By the time you tell the tale, no one is going to give a damn whether you smoked or not; they'll just be happy you're alive.

In any event, congratulations.

Ya know MAC I gotta say this... cause it is wrecking my enjoyable reading of your posts...

ohnoblackeyeohno

I still feel bad in my heart for not seeing you were hurtin when your Uncle died - feelin bad about my insensitivity. The good part of the feelin bad is that when Canada told us about their broken arm I stepped up and got near the pain...

sun You make a difference on this forum...especially the way you write and share...

Hi Salt! I just passed my 3-month "Anniversary", on the 25th. I also quit coffee/caffeine at the same time. I've done a LOT of praying during the past 3 months!!

Didn't think I'd survive this long, but I'm still here!!

Keep up the good work, Salt, and happy Easter!! bump

Ah, OneLove, take no thought. You're a lovely soul and it's my good fortune to be coming to know you here. You've done nothing but add good and light to my life. So grateful you are here.

Regarding my uncle, well, "Mr. Kurtz, he be dead." Days before he died, he wrote a beautiful letter to his wife that she shared with the family this past week. In the letter, my uncle asked that those who loved him not mourn his passing, but, instead, called us to celebrate all those within reach. He said he had a good run with very few regrets and that he loved much and was loved in return. In short, he died happy. In closing, he said no one gets out alive and that he'd see us on the other side (it was a whisper shy of the Hendrix line, "I'll see in the next world and don't be late"). His letter was final gift to those who loved him. A balm that turned the burn to a nice rich tan.

Now to the art of living........

I saw how you extended yourself to Canada. A big thing and I was happy for you, proud to see you stepping-out. Courage like the lion. Leaps and bounds to wider worlds of love. We're all fortunate you're here, friend.

Jah is Jah.

Thanks MAC - I am glad for the letter and the 'last words' that left feelings of love that mixed in with the feelings of loss..."he died happy"... wow - I wanna go out that way. At peace.

And I think the new herbs I am taking for the adrenal fatigue are starting to work - I feel less like I am being swallowed up by a 20 foot wave of emotion and energies... feeling a little stronger.

Jah is JAH... love that.

And you're not even a Rasta! (Well on the outside!)

I feel the same about you, Hawk. I admire your straight ahead and earnest posts. It was either today, or a day or two ago (too lazy to look back), that you spoke of going from boozing in the dim and dark flipping through GLP to getting-up and out to transform your internal and external temples. Powerful shit, brother.

Each day when you write, "I choose not to smoke..," I feel empowered by the truth of your words. They breathe life and jump off the page. Affirming and strong. You've motivated me to start hitting the weights again and it feels so good (when asked directions now, I bend back my arm, flex my guns, and point toward the distance saying 'That way. I'm sure" in my best John Wayne, Pilgrim). A bounce in the step (like the deli/convenience store guy noted about you), a rocket in me pocket, and a dollar and a dream.

Who's got it better than us?

Props to the Fox. This thread just hit one hundred pages!

Our Des, the Patroni. Moses of the many and conduit to freedom from the lie. An oasis in the Desert, Fox, we come to drink from the clear cool pool of wisdom, support, and love in this thread.

And we do. As others will. And the pages flip by.

Congratulations, Des. You built a fine thing here. A bridge. An arch. A road to great things.

Well done, good and trusted friend.

90 day mark for me and my partner.

Me, dealing with adrenal fatigue.

Partner, getting off the Advair pump - severe asthma attacks, taking herbs and fightin the good fight. (Yes, smoked and used a pump - began the pump after hurricane Katrina and NOLA became a bog of mold).

Let's see what life looks like not smoking in another 90 days.

I'll do a 90 and 90 on this thread.

See ya all tomorrow - Jah willing.

Happy 90 days!

Wow, Canada 588. Three Days is Amazing. Upon retiring this evening, you will have weathered the first 72 hours and the physical kick/detox of the smokes. Something to be really proud of. Congratulations.

Keep coming back to let us know how you're doing. I'm over 100 some days, but your three days is much more of an accomplishment in my book. For me, it's now pacing myself in a marathon. I'm strolling and enjoying the sights. On your end, you had to shoot off and out of the blocks and barrel through the first three days by shear will, determination, and courage. Not sure how many years, or how many you smoked (my admiration rises proportionally to the depth of the habit you put down), but the first three days is the real deal. The stuff.

Again, great congratulations on Day Three. Hope to see you again here.

Today while putting in some windows at my friends house, (who has kicked chew for 8 days now!) I was having extreme urges to smoke.........

Until I realized I had not done any framing/ retrofitting or alterations to a house without smoking. Once I voiced it and recognized the trigger for what it was, I didn't have another the rest of the day.
Same thing happened a couple weeks ago when I was doing a tile shower, voiced it, recognized it and was over it!

and a buziclap for quiters old and new!

I had quit for more than 15 years in between.
Quitting is easy.
Its the relapses that get you.

This thread is great. Gives strength to those who want to quit.
