I had reasons to start back before too, but none were good enough to take years off my life for. I know I could not have made it without Chantix, you just can't believe how it suppresses the desire to smoke, even from the first day. Yes we can!!! Crawling out of my skin, but believe urge will pass whether I smoke or not. Some strong stuff, that's for sure. Congrats on your 2.5 days, it's nice to have someone in the same count ballpark as me. Glad you said it gets better (2.5 days vs. 12 hours). All good things to you and thanks for the kindness and good thoughts. Best. |

Riggsalent User ID: 28297668 Canada 12/03/2012 11:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yep I quit! 25 years of a pack a day or more, one day said I'm tired of them haven't looked back after 71 days. Think I am done no matter what happens I will not smoke again. And the health benefits are awesome. I am a very physical person and my stamina has increased food taste better, my sense of smell has increased and the money I'm saving is cool too! By all means one should look at quitting like the day before yesterday. You will not regret being smoke free. I could never have pictured myself as a non smoker, I wouldn't be cool, but now, I was a fool for having tried them in the first place. You can live without them. I'm Down, Are You? |

BxMac User ID: 18472095 United States 12/04/2012 10:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I read another quit smoking post here on glp and the OP was an Aussie who recommended cranberry juice to compensate for the blood sugar drops affiliated with knocking down the nicotine. He made a lot of sense so in addition to all the other fruits/vegs I'm going to juice today I plan on getting some cranberry juice as well. Whatever it takes, you know. I've been met with such grace here on this thread and I'm so grateful you started it DesFox. Given the support and good fellowship I received, I feel compelled to clarify something and I don't know why but it makes me feel ashamed. I don't believe I said I was going to quit cold turkey, but just for my piece of mind I want to say I'm wearing a 21mg patch. I don't know why that's important for me to say, but it is. I just don't want to present myself in any other way but with the truth (and I think the support I've been given here has earned absolute truth). That said, wearing the patch makes me feel a little weak or a cheater. When all is said and done I'm not the tough/hard man I like to think I am but I'm certainly smart enough to know that this nicotine addiction is much much stronger than me. Still, wearing the patch makes me feel like I'm cutting a corner instead of going through it straight-on. Of course, this thinking could just be a set-up to have me take the patch off - again, for me, this addiction is cunning and baffling - and I guarantee I'd be smoking like a lunatic within hours. So I'll keep the patch on for today and ignore my, more than likely, irrational thoughts on this. Did I mention I feel like an absolute nutter this more? So that's it (I'm rambling like a crazy man and more than a bit mental. Day two. Elvis is dead and I'm not feeling too good myself. But I'm smoke free. As always, thanks for being there and giving me a place to post with kindred souls. Best - Mac |

Was way easier then when I tried the patch and chantix. |

Why, you are allergic to glycerol and propylene glycol ? yes, big time. my face swells up like a blowfish Interesting Propylene glycol is the most commonly used preservative for tobacco, so you are smoking it when you smoke cigarettes anyway. Glycerol is used in everything from cough syrup to medicines. So what you are saying is that you can smoke propylene glycol and you feel fine, but vaporizing and consuming it at a lower temperature makes you have an allergic reaction ? I'll have to ask my housemate about this, he's a biochemist who currently works designing e-liquids for e-smokes here in NC. Very strange. |

Interesting. Glycerol is a normal chemical precursor for synthesis of triacylglycerols and of phospholipids in the liver and adipose tissue. I'm curious why you'd have a reaction to it when it's part of normal body chemistry. You have other allergies ? |
