Desert Fox (OP) User ID: 8786935 United States 11/19/2014 11:46 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is how You quit cigs Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61258993 1) You make a statement to urself that u want to quit 2) You go to a smoking place and try to have fun without cigs, if You make it things will go easy now 3) Every time you go to a store, dont buy cigs, put the money in a piggy bank. 4) at a time of crisis kill the piggy bank, take the money and buy urself something nice. Its 2 years for me, my piggy got about 3000$ inside... Terrific strategy.. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. Choice is yours. |
Desert Fox (OP) User ID: 8786935 United States 11/19/2014 11:47 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | August 10th was my one year date. I guess I am at 14 months now. Having a tough time. Cig. were always my go to during high stress times. It seems like the past year has been one of the worst stress years for me. 5 family members (including my father) and our 17 year old cat all passed away in the last year. Quoting: momma coop One thing for sure, if my son re-enlists in the Army I am lighting a cig. It will be my last straw. You got this, don't let it get you. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. Choice is yours. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 65480428 South Africa 11/26/2014 10:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 9 Week bump Smoked for 18 years. Quit for 5.5 years. Relapsed for 3 years. This is my 3rd serious attempt at quitting, since starting again. The 1st lasted about 3 weeks and the 2nd only about 2 weeks. I have not had any triggers for days now, although I still think about cigarettes a couple of times a day. My thoughts are mostly that I'm happy that I have managed to quit again. Drinking was the worst, but I've survived about 4 occasions where alchohol was involved and the last time was fairly easy. I've got this. I've staarted jogging again, which is fairly difficult, as I can only do about 2km's before being pooped. |
InTheHood User ID: 47812126 United States 11/26/2014 11:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Put mine down 8/14 and went cold turkey for ankle surgery; it's now been 3 months and some odd days. I don't plan on ever starting back up again. EVER. For me, cold turkey has always been the best way (have quit before). This time is for good. |

It is a great feeling to be free of the nicodemon. Cold turkey is the way to go. Champix makes the firt few days bearable. |

Desert Fox (OP) 12/21/2014 01:11 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I quit April 22nd, 2011 after smoking two packs a day for 10 years. It can be done. Keep your heads up. Even if it's your first day, or your 756th day, you're doing better than you were before. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 50312219 Well done friend, and yes, every day without fouling the lungs is a better place. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole.
