This is how You quit cigs

1) You make a statement to urself that u want to quit
2) You go to a smoking place and try to have fun without cigs, if You make it things will go easy now
3) Every time you go to a store, dont buy cigs, put the money in a piggy bank.
4) at a time of crisis kill the piggy bank, take the money and buy urself something nice.

Its 2 years for me, my piggy got about 3000$ inside...

August 10th was my one year date. I guess I am at 14 months now. Having a tough time. Cig. were always my go to during high stress times. It seems like the past year has been one of the worst stress years for me. 5 family members (including my father) and our 17 year old cat all passed away in the last year.

One thing for sure, if my son re-enlists in the Army I am lighting a cig. It will be my last straw.

Smoked for 18 years.
Quit for 5.5 years.
Relapsed for 3 years.

This is my 3rd serious attempt at quitting, since starting again. The 1st lasted about 3 weeks and the 2nd only about 2 weeks.

I have not had any triggers for days now, although I still think about cigarettes a couple of times a day. My thoughts are mostly that I'm happy that I have managed to quit again.

Drinking was the worst, but I've survived about 4 occasions where alchohol was involved and the last time was fairly easy.

I've got this.
I've staarted jogging again, which is fairly difficult, as I can only do about 2km's before being pooped.

Put mine down 8/14 and went cold turkey for ankle surgery; it's now been 3 months and some odd days.

I don't plan on ever starting back up again. EVER. For me, cold turkey has always been the best way (have quit before).
This time is for good.

It is a great feeling to be free of the nicodemon.

Cold turkey is the way to go.

I quit April 22nd, 2011 after smoking two packs a day for 10 years. It can be done. Keep your heads up. Even if it's your first day, or your 756th day, you're doing better than you were before.

I smoked daily for 39 years, and I haven't had one for 3 days now. Problem is, it's involuntary. I can't go anywhere because a jerk who was going to get my tail lights working instead made even the turn and stop lights stop working. I haven't figured out how to undo the damage he did and here I sit. Congrats, though, to anyone who wanted to quit, and managed to do so.

Thank you, DF. I've gone through some of the thread since making my post about my involuntary three day quitting, and you guys, and gals, are awesome, and strong. Makes me think that once I get the vehicle lights working again I should NOT make my first stop be the tobacco store.
