100 Days

I am officially out of the woods.
Sober or drinking I never get the urge to smoke any more.

Yay, I quit! It's day 5, but we need to talk... No one ever said anything about breaking out like an 8th grader or any of the other bullshit things that are going on to myself and my husband. It's all great to hear the successes, but why does no one discuss the bad part? Gas, bad breath, insomnia? It's insane! And omg the smells! Everything and everyone smells nasty. Just saying...
People should have consideration, decency, and respect. To know and understand what comes out of your mouth while speaking.

"Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey."

Day 17 for me.

Still feeling very moody, having strong cravings for a couple of minutes every now and then.

I also quit coffee at the same time, don't miss it that much, mouth feels much less "slimy".

I need to quit very soon. Is it better to go cold turkey or use something like gum? I have 2 little kids and a wife. Cold Turkey seems the best but I do not know i they can put up with that.

It's good to go cold turkey but have some mental preparation first.

For example, for every cig, keep telling yourself how shit it tastes and how you don't really need this.

After a week, you will feel a disgust for cigs.

Then you go cold turkey and hope you stay strong during the cravings (getting more rare every day).

It's been 29 days now with no butts or beer. The worst part now is having a sense of smell. I hate it. Everything stinks. But other than that I feel great.

I quit 3 years ago with nasal snuff and Sweden snus. I bummed a few cigs since but just to realize how bad they are. Tobacco in itself is a good plaNt, beneficial to humans. It kills germs and even cures a few diseases. But cigarettes is to tobacco what baloney is to meat. A cheap, unhealthy, chemically altered product.

To quit completely is obviously better, but for those who wants to quikly recover health and don't care too much about still being hooked to nicotine, that's probably your best bet. A good place to start is snuffhouse.org

Good luck and congrats to all quitters!

"But cigarettes is to tobacco what baloney is to meat. A cheap, unhealthy, chemically altered product."

'What baloney is to meat,' says it all Kempamp.

Right on point.

Beautiful, sunny and warm, day here today. I was driving this morning and out of nowhere I got slammed with a wicked ciggie craving. The first nice days of Spring always harken and awaken the self-destruction in me. "Ah, it's a beautiful day, let's smoke our brains out and fog the whole thing up." Mental, but true.

I spent about five minutes justifying buying a pack until sanity returned. The thought of the dry-caustic-chemical taste of the first three cigs (after three or four I never taste the chemicals) after not smoking for a time saved me.

Reading your baloney/chemical line above confirmed and cemented my resolve.

Thanks for that and best to all those putting the smokes down.

Re: I QUIT SMOKING , YOU CAN TOO. I QUIT SEPT 27, 2012, SUPPORT EACH OTHER HERE
What a great thread!

I quit smoking in 2012 with the help of my friend and also the Alan Carr audio book.
The key to it I found is that you MUST want to do it...for what ever reasons, be it health, money etc.

Do not be afraid, there is not a great black void in front of you without the dreaded weed...life goes on and so will you, only you feel better for it.

I didn't notice any physical improvements but mentally I feel better.

I smoked for 25yrs since I was 13, spliffs from the moment I woke until the early hrs of the morning.
So much so that I never really felt stoned any more even though I could through an ounce in 2-3 days.

I started smoking again last year when I split from my girl I tried a half joint as was so stoned it was unbelievable and said to my friends this is how we should do it...once in a blue etc....but it wasn't to be.
Next days I bought more and more and was back in the cycle.
All I ate was sugar and stuff but I felt ok because I was happy doing it.

Then I knew my chance to quit again was when I went on holiday...I knew It would be hard to buy some weed so this was the perfect time and I WANTED to do it.
I Had planned it for a couple of months.

Since then ive not looked back now and I don't think I ever will.
I still hang around my same old mates, blowing it in my face lol and that skunk smells amazing...but im not interested because I wanted to stop for my reasons...money, better social life, etc.
Thing is even If I won the lotto now I wouldn't go back.

Good luck to anyone who tries...if I can do it I know for sure that anybody can.

Re: I QUIT SMOKING , YOU CAN TOO. I QUIT SEPT 27, 2012, SUPPORT EACH OTHER HERE
Husband and I are on our 8th month.
Just stopped cold turkey.
Now it's time to diet.
We are saving a ton of money and feel better.
We both smoked for 35 years.
Hitting the Y soon to start swimming.
I take it one day at a time.

If I can do it, anyone can, really, my cigs were my best friend.

You will gain weight, but IMO worth it to quit the cigs.
