Bright object in eastern sky was an ASTEROID?
For anyone who saw a bright object in the eastern sky(low on horizon) for the last 2 weeks it's gone now, my best estimate is that it was an asteroid, possibly 2012 TC4, but as of today i cannot see it, last night we had cloud cover so i'm not sure if it was visible, i did see it thursday night. I tried the internet but got Jupiter as the search results, this object had the brightness of an airplane landing light. I'm in Central California near the Sierra Nevada Mountains, anybody else observe this object?

Yup! Seen it also! Was very bright, and, at about 45 - 50 degrees up, and directly east. I too, wondered what it was. Not sure if was an asteroid, though?

It had to be, it's completely gone now, we have to keep our eyes to the sky, more may be following.

That part bothers me, no trail, yet so highly visible. It was something large IMO, and i hope that the NEO data is not being withheld from the public because i heard no mention of this on our local news, or on the national level.

I think I saw a thread on GLP that
mention an object coming close to the
earth this week.

it was closer to the earth than our moon was.
from what I remember.

I am still seeing this object today in Iowa. It was just above horizon at 18:30 North East. Now is East about 60-70 degrees. Yesterday we had very clear sky and it was brightest object on the sky. Sure its not space station???

Re: Bright object in eastern sky was an ASTEROID?
I posted last night on here that we saw an object to the SE that was brilliant and with the most beautiful colors I've ever seen. Sapphire Blue, Emerald Green, Ruby Red and bright white. Don't know if it was the same object?

The other night I was lying in my bed, and some thing flashed outside and lit up my window twice. It wasn't a car or lightning. Two quick flashes which is why I think it was something flying over head burning up.

Re: Bright object in eastern sky was an ASTEROID?
Now you mention it, I have been seeing a very bright star north east, around 9-11:00ish at night.

It is between two other bright stars but at some distance, and I looked it up to see what ot could be and at first I figured it might be alderban by the description.

When checking with a friends dymanic real time astronomy app, i couldnt locate any of the three stars when I positioned the tablet in the righr location...

I expect is will still be there tomorrow though...

[link to www.itelescope.net]

Check this out, it's an asteroid, I'm in southeast Missouri and still seeing it every night in the southeast very close to the horizon from my foothills view. It twinkles red and blue and I was taught that means it's moving...

Re: Bright object in eastern sky was an ASTEROID?
I'm in New York,, Orange County
I saw what looked like a landing airplane with about four lights on it's wings maybe 15 degrees south of East at around 4:30 a.m. onNov 15 or 16.
. It didn't"t move for at least a minute so I ruled out airplane. Didn't try to check it out till today (nov 21).
