The mystic teachings of Kumare
Just watched this excellent indy film, one of the finest religion / new age films you can see

Kumare is a wise guru from the East who indoctrinated a group of followers in the West. Kumare, however, is not real--he is the alter ego of American filmmaker Vikram Gandhi, who impersonated a spiritual leader for the sake of a social experiment designed to challenge one of the most widely accepted taboos: that only a tiny "1%" can connect the rest of the world to a higher power. Concealing his true identity from everyone he meets, Kumare forges profound and spiritual connections with people from all walks of life. At the same time, in the absurdity of living as an entirely different person, Vikram, the filmmaker, is forced to confront difficult questions about his own identity. At the height of his popularity, Kumare unveils his true identity to a core group of disciples who are knee-deep in personal transformation. Will they accept his final teaching? Can this illusion reveal a greater spiritual truth? KUMARE, at once playful and profound, is an insightful look at faith and belief.

Re: The mystic teachings of Kumare
This was an amazing film. That said, I think it was fake. Yes, it was a fake fake. I am not demeaning the film in any way but pointing out that the film is not what it seems.

The actor director is very certain. He knows he was being false. I think it goes deeper. I think even his "students" were just actors --think Sandy Hook-- in a New Age setting.
The whole film was acted out - the message: don't get duped by "New Age" stuff. To go further I'm sure someone more versed in the Christian doctrine would recognize this film as about the Antichrist.

The other as possible and as likely back story to the film would be that even withstanding the director/actors certainty that he was being false and making stuff up, he in fact was being the unknowing instrument of someone or thing acting through him. Ascended Master would be an example. I'm sure one could do such without the consent or knowledge of the instrument - if skilled enough.

Even so, I thought the movie is definitely a watcher.

Just off the top of my head, I say bunk to it being a documentary. If he tricked people this way in this day and age I'm surprised no one sued him.

It's all ego anyway, No?

Re: The mystic teachings of Kumare
this movie, kumare, is on netflix. i watched it a couple of weeks ago. i find the message to be one of obfuscation. in a way, i feel the message is nwo. trust yourself?, trust authority?, trust your idea of authority? TRUST NOTHING. the borg will fill in all the gaps for you, if we can break you down far enough.

thought provoking film, no doubt that it will affect people accordingly. my opinion is that it was a fundie nwo film, at a low level, and fake in many nuts and bolts aspects regarding the editing.

should be watched, imho.
