You may not be able to avoid them. Just sayin'. Some injuries really are best treated by going in and having it fixed. If you've torn something, continuing to use it as normal can cause more damage. Not all docs are going to load you up on meds and cut open your knee. They will probably do an MRI then from there determine if you need surgery or can get away with physical therapy.
