Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22353411 Been there, experienced that - the pain will drive you to the surgical solution, which will indeed make it all better. Except for healing the small arthro incisions, you will come out of surgery essentially pain-free and ready to run a marathon. Seriously. That was my first thought too. However, my torn meniscus swelled all around the knee... not just behind the knee. It took me 6 months to be able to go back to work after the arthroscopic surgery. Been over a week now, swelling behind the knee, very stiff and hurts a lot to walk up and down stairs. My own diagnosis is a Bakers (popliteal) cyst. Don't want to go to dr. any alternative remedies or ideas are greatly appreciated! Quoting: INK3 I have a brace for every joint in my body...may go a couple of years without using a single one but they work great for when I need them... This. Get a good knee brace. I don't mean a 10 dollar one from Walmart. Go to a medical supply place and have them fit you for one. I had to have that done when I slipped on ice and dislocated my knee cap last winter. You wouldn't think so.. but the high tech brace can make a world of difference. It won't heal the knee so much as help with the pain though. Do you need a prescription for that type of brace? I had a pretty heavy duty one and yes, I needed an Rx. Mine kept me from full range of motion, supported the tendons so my patella couldn't slip back out of place etc while I was doing physical therapy. It went from about mid-thigh to mid-calf. You can purchase more basic ones without one though, I think. That was the first one I have had that I bought outside of a big chain store like Walmart though. The only things I forsee you running into is that they may not want to sell you one for fear of lawsuit because you may blame them if it doesn't work and you need surgery. Not saying you will do that, but you know somewhere someone has most likely. Also, the type of brace you need often depends on the injury. if you don't know your exact injury they may not be able to get you in the right type of brace. I'm thinking more Bakers cyst. I want to avoid surgery totally. the bakers cyst is not what is hurting you............it is probably the meniscus torn/damaged and this is what causes the knee to leak the synoptic fluid which then forms as a cyst/polyp I have had the bakers cyst myself for about three or four years now and will be having my second arthriscope op on the knee within the next couple of months. I too am having difficulty and pain when walking up and down stairs and apparently some part of my meniscus is catching on a bony spur according to the specialist who will be doing the op for free on the public hospital system ,which is a big relief for me I must say. Good luck with getting it sorted out . . |

Take it orally as a sublingual and apply it topically as a salve. You can find Arnica Montana (sublinguals) at a health food store, and even Family Dollar carries it suspended as a salve that you can rub on your knee. I jacked up my ACL and couldn't walk for a week or better. Excruciating pain. But I stayed faithful with the oral and topical application of Arnica Montana and was limping without pain at the 10 day mark. I also used Essential Oil Lavender topically, which gave relief enough to sleep. Although you can make a salve with Arnica Montana sublinguals (to apply topically), you CAN NOT take the Arnica Montana suspension/salve orally. I am not a doctor, but I played one in 5th grade....Good Luck. |

I know, because of severe knee pain I was prescribed Naproxin which ultimately, and rather quickly, caused an unstoppable bleeding ulcer that almost took my life. Doctors still can't believe I made it. Guess It wasn't my time. |
