Texas City's emergency manager Bruce Clawson says there's been a hydrochloric acid leak from a tank in the port area. So far, no injuries were immediately reported. However, that leak created a cloud that's now traveling over parts of the city, prompting officials to enforce a citywide lock down. Right now, ABC13's AccuWeather forecast shows winds in Texas City are blowing from the southeast at 15 miles per hour. The leak appeared to be coming from the Dallas Group storage facility, Texas City Emergency Management Coordinator Bruce Clawson said. Three people have been taken to Mainland Medical Center for treatment for exposure, Clawson said. One of the people taken was a dock worker and the other two firemen. Years ago I was reading a book called, "The Effects of Nuclear Weapons." It compared the results of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to an explosion that occurred in Texas City when a ship or two loaded with ammonium nitrate blew up. Seems like they still haven't got the safety thing quite right. I hope this time no one gets killed.
