So instead he wants to force his religion, atheism, on the helpless innocent Canadian school children. The Bible is a cornerstone of Western civilization, why does this Marxist liberal antichrist, get to dictate his "nothing created everything" doctrine on everyone else?

Maybe there is hope for Canada after all. If you want to solve our problems you will need more capitalism and more Jesus, not necessarily in that order.

Why don't the schools sent these bibles to one of those charity things where they collect old paper and see it as a financial donation?

I mean I see things that can be done here.. art class ? Papier-mâché?

Then they must distribute the koran, baghavad gita, satanic bible, egyptian book of the dead etc...
And christians wonder why they're 'persecuted'?! Cretins of the lowest order!

You have religious freedom in the US. What you are griping about is that non-Christians have it too.

No, they must NOT distribute those. You see, if you went to Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Egypt, Libya, or any other islamist hell hole and demanded they stop distributing korans, you'd be put to death. Islam is the predominate religion over there. In the west, Christianity is the dominate religion as well as the cornerstone of our civilization. We need to stop bending over backwards to appease these tiny minorities of assholes that want to impose their beliefs on us. The Gideon Bibles were given freely with parental permission. His spawn didn't have to take one. Therefore he either needs to emigrate back to whatever hell hole he came from or STFU.

After the genocide of millions of religious believers (Protestants, Catholics, Anabaptists, Muslims, Jews) and others (scientists, humanists, etc) in Middle-Ages Europe, freedom of religion slowly emerged along with the "Enlightenment". It took centuries of well-fought battles to establish tolerance of belief for citizens in Western countries. The separation of Church and State was another achievement that required blood, sweat and tears for many years. Each religion that has ever been co-opted by the State ends up persecuting those who do not buy into the official government-sanctioned belief system, whether Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, or Communist. Our secular Western countries need to safeguard the "Level Playing Field" that allows citizens to openly and freely practice and promote their religions without fear of recrimination from the State or other non-tolerant people. Today, if you persecute Muslims, Christians, or humanists, tomorrow it will be another group who will persecute you. We need to protect freedom of conscience and religion.

In a free and open society, the Gideons should be able to distribute their Bibles with parental consent. Others should be able to do the same with their religion or philosophy. It is healthy for children to learn about the various belief systems around them. They can choose whichever religion or philosophy they like as they grow older. It takes a lot of effort, but it is time well spent.

As I see it, both sides of the debate need to chill out and allow others the freedom to share their philosophical / religious views. Elementary and high schools ARE the right place to learn about the different religions and philosophies of this world. More knowledge = better ability to navigate the waters of our complex society. In today's ever-changing world, we all need to be better equipped to "love our neighbours as ourselves" and "do to others like we want them to do to us".

One more note: Richard Ajabu is not a loser. He just needs to request the Chilliwack School District to all others such as First Nations spiritual leaders, atheists, Sikhs, Buddhists, Muslims, etc. to present their views and distribute their literature.
