Another driver of higher premiums is the fact that insurers will have to cover everyone, regardless of previous health status, a change that will attract sicker enrollees at the expense of healthier ones. From 2013-2022, Obamacare increases taxes by $1.2 trillion, which amounts to $15,796 for the average family of four. Florida’s share of those taxes is approximately $75 billion. Obamacare’s defenders will claim that many of Obamacare’s taxes fall on corporations and upper-income individuals. But these taxes will get passed down to every American. For example, the law applies an excise tax to health insurance premiums, which insurers will be forced to pass down to individuals in the form of higher premiums. Analysts estimate that this tax could increase premiums by as much as 3 percent, amounting to around $550 for the average Florida family in 2014. With the provisions squarely aimed at high-income earners, they're almost certain to polarize the debate over health-care reform even further. The new taxes are aimed at boosting and extend the reach of Medicare payroll taxes for taxpayers above certain income levels. Under current law, the government charges a tax of 2.9% on wages and self-employment income. For employees, your employer covers half of that tax, and the other half is withheld automatically from your paycheck. That rate will soon be raised to 3.8% for single filers who have earnings of more than $200,000. For joint filers, the limit is $250,000. Moreover, the entire additional 0.9% will come out of your pocket. It had been much debated but here is the entire law, Feel free to read it, you will be ahead of most lawmakers who voted on it. This law was approved as legal by the United States Supreme Court in June 2012. So where does that leave the American People? An estimated 6 million people in the US do not buy or have medical insurance. If it was a choice of sending your kids to school or feeding them what would you do? A difficult question. The PPACA provides for penalties to those who do not purchase a medical coverage plans (businesses over 50 and on individuals) approved by the IRS. Tax penalties assessed by the Internal Revenue Service. Whether you are for or against Obamacare, in doing my research I found a viable and affordable choice for certain groups. As you might know, religious sects are exempt if they are members of a group that shares medical bills, even if it is not insurance. This was a shocker for me, did you know Christianity is now considered a sect by law? This law.
