Halloween and Christmas
I know this may sound stupid to some, but, is anyone else bothered by the fact that the stores were putting halloween stuff out with christmas stuff, and now that halloween is over, mixed in with the christtomatomas stuff?

Re: Halloween and Christmas
That is stupid because both have nothing to do with the true nature of the holidays.

Re: Halloween and Christmas
You're right. It's just materialism. What we can buy next. More, more, more. Don't we have enough stuff. It just really bothered me.

Re: Halloween and Christmas
Yes but they have been doing that for years.

It's all about money. Out with one holiday on to the next.

This world revolves around money and greed.

AND a holiday that reminds us to be THANKFUL seems to be completely forgotten.

Or our freedoms that are long forgotten. I think that we need to be alot more thankful for everything. It's hard given the circumstances, but, we all have something, even one thing to be thankful for.tounge

Re: Halloween and Christmas
Why do programmers get Halloween and Christmas mixed up?

Because Oct 31 = Dec 25.

("Oct" as in "octal" and "Dec" as in "decimal" - and that's all the help I'm going to give with this joke)

Exactly.
I am tired of Christmas, we here in the UK do not celebrate Halloween as devoutly as the US does, it has become a sweet fest instead of a celebration of the Saints warding off evil, a total twist and detour from truth and meaning.

I am so tired of Christmas, it was a celebration of the birth of Christ into the flesh, and look at what that has become. It has become a celebration of material gain and lies. It has completely turned from the celebration of Christ in the flesh to a celebration of some unreal, fantasy man called father Christmas or Satan, I mean Santa, whatever you like to call it.
It has become a retail shopping fest of a gross display of materialism, it is not fun any more. Even the decorations are over the top and many people use it as competition.
Parents believe it is good to bring their children up on a lie of some fantasy Christmas man that Coke turned red back in the 50's. It is now so corrupt and twisted it sickens me how humanity allows these things to happen.
I now detest Christmas and the display of greed and the wanton stuff all the people want, this is what it has become, a celebration of materialism and lies.

It is very sad that parents think a lie is good to bring their children up on, so long as it is fun and exciting, well actually, no, it is not good and it is not right, why cannot the truth be the reason to celebrate, it is disgusting.

Humanity let themselves fall so low and they cannot see it.

Re: Halloween and Christmas
I cannot stand Christmas... It is nothing more than that time each year when people run around spending time and money that they do not have, trying to impress people they do not like. "Peace on earth...goodwill towards men" sure has great meaning on Dec 24th when your likely to get stabbed at the mall for a parking spot.

It is going to be kept simple this year...A nice dinner for my husband and I, a deposit into my son & daughter in laws savings account, and a large donation to our local animal shelter.

Re: Halloween and Christmas
We could not afford to do much of anything for
Christmas last year. Couldn't even afford to fill the stockings with care. I thought my kids would have a fit because of all the materialism in past Christmas's but they were really good about it. In fact it turned out to be the best Christmas ever. We did put up the tree, even though I didn't want to, but, we did get back to the meaning of it more. This year will be the same, I prefer it this way. It brought us closer together.hf

Re: Halloween and Christmas
I didnt notice but it doesnt surprise me. They would like to obliterate Thanksgiving - the only true Christian holiday out of the three. Thanksgiving is actually about thanking God for our blessings. There's no pagan festivities involved. 'They' hate that!
