This is a national tree service that
subcontracts for many municipalities
and energy companies including
Progress Energy in the Carolinas.

it has some divisions that work under
union contracts and others who do
no have ties to unions.

there were some Asplundh linemen
who were allowed to go help.
But these men were ALL union.
The Asplundh non-union members
were told to go home.

seems to me like if there were people
dying that it would not matter
if they were union or not
to help save lives.

So why don't you ask officials in
NY and NJ if all of their crews are union
only and see what their response is ???

Here in CT we welcomed all the out of town help, including Asplundh workers (Saw a convoy of them yesterday going south on I-95). Thanks for coming guys!

They cleared up much of Bridgeport CT.....we brought them a few dozen doughnuts and a few buckets of coffee.....they were very nice people

Unions make a percentage off every hr worked
during a hurricane clean-up.

if the workers doing the work are NOT union
then the union does not make a dime off
their labor.

Why are you mad, they went to NY and NJ but they were told to go, because they were not Union! They have done the same before, they don't get extra money for the job they do.

My nephew is in Ct. they were going to start in NY and NJ but that not how it came down>

My husband is not union member and went to new Jersey and I am from NC. What you have posted is lies told to the workers of the company that they worked for. The reason they got turned away
is not BC they didn't have a union card (which my husband definitely does not have)but BC their company they worked for refused to pay them the union wages while in a union state. The company they worked for wanted to pay them wages like if they where working in NC the union said no you can't pocket the money for the workers that we pay you. The union was looking out for the workers coming to help not the company that was coming and since their company refused to sign a contract to give the workers those wages the union refused their help. I know BBC that's what had to happen in order to go help. Must have been greedy management. He is not union but did get to go. And am going to love getting paid union wages to go there. don't post crap up here if you can't back your story. What you said was just to stir trouble. PS I saw the agreement from the company showing everything that had to change in wages in order for my husband to go.

what good is paying UNION wages when the
UNION reaps the benefits by a 10% union
fee ??

if you take away the union fee the workers
pay, the workers would be making less than
the non-union labors anyway.

so the ONLY benefit of being union
is that the UNIONS get that extra cash.
