90% of these people are in areas that where not evacuation zones... But when the lights went out logistics stopped and even those high and dry can't buy shit because the city is empty....

Does anyone remember a few months ago, FEMA was buying up all the freeze-dried meals and MRE's. Millions and millions of them. In fact, I remember several posters who were commenting upon how their survival food orders were delayed because of the warehouses being empty.

So, uh, WHERE did all that food go, huh? Seems like this would be a good time to break it out of the Gubb'mint stash, wouldn't you think?

And to think all these fucking idiots that mock people who "prep" aka, engage in common sense, are the same fucktard morans that instead of keeping some cash on hand and extra food, water, etc., go out and buy ipads, and flat screen tv's and blow all there cash on scratch tickets and the fucking loto.

I have family on Staton Island and they are 60' above the bay so no damage... But they don't have electric or water and stores are bare... They call us to get info as the news here in Texas has more info than they get... The have bottled water and foodf for 6 months so no big deal but they said it is starting to get western on the streets...

Everyone, everywhere should have a couple weeks of food put away for emergencies. That way people don't have to run to the store when a hurricane is forecasted. Then they will have food to share with others after the disaster hit.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a tray of food to take to your elderly neighbor after a bad storm? Rather then complaining about the idiot politician.

We get the politicians that we deserve. They voted in that idiot, because he promised them everything. They refused to voted in people who spoke to them as adults and asked them to act responsibly.

Maybe now they will vote for better people. But I highly doubt it. The idiots in New Orleans voted back in the same people who messed that area up. The idiots in New York will probably do the same.

Oh, please! This is not difficult. EVERY TIME YOU GO SHOPPING, you pick up a few extra cans of veggies, some soup and a box of crackers, an extra case of water beyond what you use in a week (or however often you shop).

There isn't a place in this nation that doesn't experience some kind of natural disasters. YOU HAVE GOT TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.

I agree with the poster who said if your house blows down, OK, that's a different set of circumstances, and I AM IN NO WAY exonerating Bloomberg....just saying.....TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF to some extent. Be as prepared as you can be, and I suspect MOST Ny'ers were NOT prepared for a week without electricty, shops open or take-out. They weren't prepared because they DID NOT WANT TO BELIEVE what they were being told about how bad it would be.

What prevented these now hungry and cold people from evacuating the flood zones when told to do so or at least saving and preparing for a rainy day thus retaining their dignity and independence?

Through taxation, our local governments have taken the responsibility of maintaining local roads the state maintains roads under their jurisdiction and the federal government providing some relief funding.

New York provides much information concerning hurricanes, and what areas need to be evacuated, as they are known flood zones, which was broadcasted on radio, television and on the internet.

They haven't faced a hurricane like this in decades, if ever. That said, they have faced snow storms.

Everyone should have at least a week or two of food at home.

All these things were said on these boards FIVE DAYS PRIOR to the storm.

I personally would like to know what happened to it all.

I have always suspected they bought it up so there would be NONE for "preppers" to buy.

I feel for you new yorkers. I have food stashed in different parts of my house, my garage, in tuperware containers, just incase something were to happen. I have a filtration system in my back yard in case I ever have to filter creek water or rain water, etc. You can never be too prepared. I will take care of my family no matter what the case. I have maps, compasses, etc. I will never rely on fema to take care of me and mine. If that makes me a terrorist, so be it. If you ask me, being hooked on Govt. makes you vulnerable to the real terrorists, and that is lying pricks in 3 piece suits. Stay warm New Yorkers and New Jersey brethren, stay safe also, you never know when a really hungry person will attack you. Be vigilante.

This is the mentality that our government has created. Huge storm coming in, a weeks notice and they don't prepare. They just go about their daily routine, preparing doesnt even cross their minds.

Dont get me wrong, I feel for these people. Coke, Pepsi, Ice Mountain, etc can bring in a couple truck loads of water and give it out but they won't. Nope, instead, they want the rest of us to donate money to the Red Cross then have the Red Cross use the donations to BUY the water from the corporations.

Or use the news media to tell us to go buy water ourselves and donate the water. God forbid a billion dollar company have to spend a few dollars helping the citizens.
