400,000 pounds in English money.

A stunt? Less than a million is not too much for a political campaign to lay out considering the price of ads.

Not free advertising, but plenty of free publicity for the price.

Rigged? Seems so.

I went and looked up how much the Irish bookie paid off early on Obama.

I think it was Paddy's. Guesstimate at about 400,000 British pounds, less than 850,000 US.

In a billion dollar US election cycle this is small change.

Rigged, paid for, for publicity?

Seems like.

Yes that is correct.

It's no crime for a bookie to pay off a bet early.

He could have been compensated by a political party for advertising.

Let's say I'm not surprised it's Paddy Power - they are well known for their publicity stunts.
