Then they dig them up in winter and spring. I've seen squirrels dig through 2 feet of snow for them. The funniest thing to watch is when one burys a nut and another one waits for him to leave. Then he will go bury it somewhere else. |

In other words they felt something was wrong with the food source they normally eat and now they feel desperate cause they were unable to collect anything and put it in storage? There could definitely be a shortage. On a personal note we had ants in the house all summer...they are finally gone. It's definitely cold out here in NJ. I noticed bees were out a little later than normal but they are gone now too. They squirrels around here have always been nuts. LOL! We sometimes see them well into December.
