Sadly, we have a two party system, and that's just the way it is. I don't have to "buy in" to every item on the left agenda, nor do you have to "buy in" to every item on the right agenda. Ideally we would have the ability to vote for issues, NOT personalities. But it's easier to simply present two options to the populace. We have to weigh the pros and cons of each issue, then decide which side carries the greatest weight based on relative values. That's built in to the system.
